00:03Skeletal remains and a historic wall have been discovered in Chesterfield Town Centre

00:08during work to transform Ritnell Square.

00:11An archaeologist has been investigating the site following the discovery

00:14and once the initial findings have been issued,

00:17Chesterfield Borough Council says it will have a better understanding of any delay to the project,

00:21part of work to improve Chesterfield Town Centre,

00:24and be able to share more information about the discovery.

00:27Councillor Kate Salvant, Chesterfield Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Town Centre's and Visitor Economy said,

00:33Our town has a rich history and there was always a possibility we would discover something of archaeological interest

00:39through the course of this project.

00:41We must now follow the proper procedure and investigate the discovery.

00:44We hope that it will shed more light on how people used to live in our borough

00:47and the historic layout of the area around the church.

00:51We will share more information about any delays to the project

00:53and any interesting details that arise from the investigation.

00:56A controversial sculpture is set to return to public display in Derbyshire,

01:05five years after it was unlawfully removed and eventually stored in another town.

01:09The Black's Head sculpture, which forms part of the Grade 2 listed sign above St John's Street in Ashbourne,

01:15was removed by protesters in June 2020.

01:18It was hidden for four days before being returned to Derbyshire Dells District Council.

01:21Since then, the sculpture has been kept in Derbyshire County Council's Matlock Record Office for safekeeping.

01:28Now the District Council has filed plans for permission to house the head sculpture

01:32in Ashbourne Historical Centre in a glass container,

01:35alongside a display explaining the item's history.
