Gilas Pilipinas Coach Tim Cone eyes gold in FIBA qualifiers

Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone shares that in the upcoming 2025 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers, the team will not settle for anything less than gold. The Philippine national team defeated the Macau Black Bears via 103-98 comeback win in a send-off match prior to the FIBA Asia Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on July 29, 2025.

00:12That's certainly our goal.
00:14That's not what we're focused on, though.
00:16We're focused on every day.
00:18You know, what we do every day, we're focused right now on the first game we play.
00:22And beyond that, there's nothing.
00:24Right now, but our goal is certainly to win a gold medal.
00:28And we'll do what we can to get there.
00:32But we're not going to look that far ahead right now.
00:34Our goal is there, but our focus is what's right in front of us.
00:37And that's practice on Wednesday.
