00:00Six weeks of road works will begin at a key junction near the M32, bringing changes that
00:07Bristol drivers need to know about. The works focus on Cold Harbour Lane in Filton, right
00:13by the University of the West of England's Frenchay campus and its junction with the
00:19A4174 ring road. The biggest disruption will be the closure of the left turn from the ring
00:25road which links junction one of the M32 and Gloucester Road onto Cold Harbour Lane. Drivers
00:31will need to follow signposted diversions with Cold Harbour Lane accessible via Abbeywood
00:37roundabout and an alternative route for eastbound Filton Road via the A4174. These road works
00:46scheduled to run until the end of August will see a new left turn lane added for the A4174
00:53to Cold Harbour Lane, designed to ease congestion in one of Bristol's busiest areas. A new cycle
00:59lane and pedestrian path will also be created at this junction, aiming to improve safety
01:04for non-drivers. South Gloucestershire Council says that the timing of the works during summer
01:10holidays is intended to reduce disruption. They've thanked drivers in advance for their
01:15patience during the upgrade. Meanwhile, the A4018 Passage Road in North Bristol remains
01:22closed southbound between Crow Lane Roundabout and Charlton Road until August 1. This three-week
01:30closure is part of a wider project to boost the reliability of the number one bus service
01:35through Henbury and improve cycling safety. In other ongoing works, Bath-New Bridge near Temple-Mead
01:42station is down to one lane.
