The northbound side the M5 in Gloucestershire was closed between Junction J16 at Almondsbury to Junction 14 for Falfield, while southbound the closure was from Junction 14 to Junction 15, where it meets the M4.

00:09it was closed between Junction 16 at Almondsbury to Junction 14 at Falfield, while southbound

00:16the closure was from Junction 14 to Junction 15 where it meets the M4. A statement from

00:22National Highway said Avon, Somerset Fire and Rescue were working with the Environment

00:27Agency, police, traffic officers and contractors at the scene of the flooding to clear it as

00:33soon as possible. The flooding caused delays of around 45 minutes and 3 miles of congestion.

00:40The diversions were set up, northbound traffic which followed a solid triangle symbol to

00:46leave the M5 Junction 16 and A38. The amber weather warning issued by the Met Office did

00:54not suggest that floods would impact the southwest.
