00:00this is Daniel from sleep theory and you're watching gear masters we're
00:14currently on the afterglow headline tour which is convenient because I put this
00:20jacket on because it's cold today in Chicago but yeah let's do a little gear
00:26rundown here so guitars here I'll start out with this guy here this is the main
00:33guitar I use on the run this is a custom 22 that I bought I freakin absolutely love
00:42this thing it's got dragon 2 pickups in it which these are the pickups we use
00:49throughout the album we we mainly have guitars in the studio that have these so
00:54this had to happen and of course I've got my locking pick tuners and then someone
01:00back home shout out to Matt he 3d printed me some trust rod covers with the ST logo
01:08so these are one of a kind right now but this is this is my main guitar this is my
01:14baby right here African I love this thing so much it's in drop a sharp if you can
01:21believe that the strings on here are freaking huge we actually had to bore
01:28out the locking tuner peg to fit this gauge string when I first got it because we
01:36play really low yeah so the main way I play is all the way to 11 it goes all the
01:45way to 11 what's what's more louder than 10 11 so I always have stuff cranked I
01:52think there there might be only one song in the set that I might dial it back like a
01:58hair and even then that's on 10 so gauge strings I use for this one I believe are in
02:06this box I just changed the gauge of this one I went a little bit lighter here they
02:11are I'm using D'Addario D'Addario baritone light gauge for this one I was
02:19using a heavier one that's on my 277 I used to use these these things are are fat they
02:28they uh they were just a little bit too much so I I kind of went a little bit
02:33lighter on the store to to get a better feel of it but yeah that is the that's
02:41the main next up in the vault we've got this beauty this is my 277 baritone it's a 277 it's
02:5227 inch scale so it's the long one it's this one does have these bad boys on it
02:59because it can handle it really well this one is in drop G sharp so it's funny I
03:08posted a video of stuck in my head because I use this guitar for stuck in my
03:12head and I did like a little playthrough everybody's like what drop pedal are you
03:17using to get that low I'm like it's the guitar it's this it's in drop G sharp it's
03:25low it does the thing but uh just standard like humbucker pickups that came with it
03:34what's cool about this one I never use this feature but it does have a push pull
03:39knob which is crazy it actually sounds really cool so it'll split these coils up
03:45so you have like multiple different tone options that you can cycle through on
03:50this thing even though most of the set I'm right here cranked and with this
03:55pickup but also got the truss rod cover on this guy this is my G sharp main I
04:03actually don't have a backup for this one next on here is this beauty this is the
04:10backup to the custom 22 that I have it is a beautiful beautiful finish on it I
04:22play it I don't really play it a whole lot in the set I basically played this
04:28one to give the 22 a break during the set because there's like multiple songs
04:33I'll play in a row I'll be like switch me out to this one and I love it the
04:38pickups are a little bit different Seymour Seymour Duncan pickups in it but uh
04:42this one actually our producer gifted to me so that's that's a cool fun fact he
04:52was just like hey man here you go I was like are you sure but uh yeah it's a this
05:01is also just a great guitar I love the matte there's like a matte finish on the
05:06neck you can kind of see right there where it like tapers down into it so it's
05:11got like a really nice feel on the neck so this next guitar is absolutely
05:17gorgeous this is uh this is actually not mine yet I'm just kidding he will not
05:25let me buy it but this is actually our producers as well right before we went out
05:29we have a song parasite that's in drop D it's the only song we have right now
05:36that's in that tuning so I needed a guitar in that tuning and he was like dude I
05:41just bought this purple CE or a mccarty tin top so it is a tin top that you can see
05:51right there missing is gorgeous purple you know sleep theory we love purple it's got the dragon to
05:59pickups in it just like my custom 22 this thing plays incredibly I'm sad I only get
06:08to play it on one song might write some more stuff in this tuning and see if he'll
06:13let me take it on the road again because this guitar is just gorgeous bird inlays I mean look at that inlay
06:22look at those they're gorgeous I mean Paul Reed Smith just outdoes themselves every single time
06:31yeah so this actually is different these are deodario they're these I'm using the EX EXL 110
06:42which is the 10 gauge actually let me just grab this real quick it's these guys right here so
06:52vastly different from what he's on the other guitars so much lighter touch on this one but it's always
07:00it's fun to play so be looking out for this because you'll only see it once during the set only one one
07:07song and it's done it's gone for the rest of the set so yeah so right now we have no amps because
07:14they're heavy but I do use this we use the quad cortex right now so this is like my main tone me and
07:23our producer Dave went through and actually a good good friend Noah Henson came through too and helped kind
07:32shape this tone out that we have right now so this is I don't know if you can see that but a lot of I
07:39won't give away my my secrets too much but basically these are the two amps we use in the studio and
07:45cabinets so we basically like modeled everything so that it's as close to the album as we could get it
07:52and I have this running MIDI off of our Ableton sessions so like throughout the set it's cycling
08:02through tones like I have a clean tone it'll go to I've got a that one's kind of cool it's like an octave
08:10thing that shut that turns on during the set do I use any other the there's parasite I don't really use
08:20that anymore though so yeah this thing's like switching through stuff so I'm not up at my trying
08:28to scream in the mic and playing you know tiptoe around which is fun sometimes but this is this has
08:36become it's just it's nice you can just get out there be wherever on the stage and it's switching
08:42for me I will say this a cool effect that that I do is I'm running to two amps technically on this in four
08:54cabs so it's like true stereo and on this bottom one I do run a delay that's ran where is it of 15
09:06milliseconds behind the other one so it gives the the sound of it being like a more widespread stereo
09:15sound which is really awesome the only other thing that's on this patch it's literally the amps and
09:21then these overdrive pedals which I'm using the green 808 I think for both and these turn on and off
09:29throughout the set depending if I need like that extra push in a chorus or something but uh this
09:38patch I made the clean that thing's crazy it sounds phenomenal it's there's so much going on in it
09:46there's reverb delay shimmer stuff going on it's all over the place but I don't know how I got to that so I
09:55can't really even tell you I was just like yeah this sounds good so I'm gonna stop uh but yeah
10:01that's basically it it's it's not too much going on um but it is fun it's a lot of fun as far as picks
10:09go uh I'm running out of picks actually we have more picks on order I don't even know if I do I have any
10:19left I might be uh might be out of luck I think I'm out of luck like these are some older older style
10:29picks I do have afterglow picks that I think I just threw them all at this point um but there I do use
10:37uh I've been trying out the Jazz 3 they're like the smaller style picks so uh I've really been loving
10:43those it's a one millimeter Jazz 3 pick it's I've been loving it and then I go I ran out so I'm going
10:52I'm using uh just like some generic I think these are 0.88 but they're the they're bigger feels like
11:00I'm playing with a surfboard right now I'm just like oh in ears uh so for this run um I'm looking
11:07to get some custom molds if anybody's out there uh but uh these are just the Shure 425s they do the
11:17job they do the job um but uh yeah we're going to get some custom molded I think Paolo just got some
11:26in recently but uh yep all right guys well that's pretty much it um thank you for watching uh go
11:33stream by afterglow album uh just came out it's uh I might be a little biased but it's a no skip
