The man accused of the brutal stabbing death of a woman at Canberra’s zoo has pleaded guilty to murder in the ACT Supreme Court today. He's been in custody since the killing in December 2023 and was to have faced trial next month.

00:00It was a confronting scene for police who'd rushed to the zoo after frantic calls from staff who'd heard screams from the kitchen area.
00:12Shuang Choden was found dead in a storeroom. She'd been stabbed 14 times.
00:1731-year-old Jude Widgesinger was arrested soon after. The pair had worked in the kitchen together, but when Ms Choden rebuffed Widgesinger's advances, things took a tragic turn.
00:30Ms Choden told other workers he was moody around her and got mad when other men spoke to her.
00:36It ended in disaster in December 2023 when Widgesinger stabbed Ms Choden to death.
00:43When police searched Widgesinger's home, they found a series of letters, including one which said it was never meant to end this way.
00:53Widgesinger will be sentenced in October.
