00:01Previously on Project Runway,
00:03your challenge is to create a companion piece
00:06to get best look.
00:09Althea's whining about Logan copying her collar idea.
00:13Meanwhile, she's copying my previous look, the Aspen look.
00:16You're supposed to get inspiration from your own look.
00:19Seriously? You're gonna kill someone?
00:21Irina has the nickname Mina Irina for a reason.
00:25Althea, who had the first idea of these big sweater jackets?
00:32It was my original sketch.
00:34I definitely don't feel like I was influenced.
00:36You are the winner of this challenge.
00:38Logan, your look was too tricked out.
00:41That means, Logan, you're out.
00:43This is Project Runway.
00:45Of course I'm the best.
00:47The search for the next big fashion designer.
00:49I have to win. I'm in, you're out.
00:52I'm the best designer here.
00:54I have no fear.
00:55Make it work.
00:56That's my one.
00:57This is my dream.
00:58For these 16 designers,
00:59Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
01:03The winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread
01:06in Marie Claire magazine,
01:08a Paris vacation courtesy of Avion,
01:10and $100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to start their own line.
01:15It's getting really rough right now, and it's getting kind of awkward.
01:27Irene and I aren't really speaking because she's accused me of copying.
01:32There has been a little bit of resemblance of things in the workroom.
01:36It was my original sketch.
01:38The last thing I want to do right now is start an argument
01:41because there's so many other things to focus on,
01:43so that's just automatic tension.
01:45It's going to be what it's going to be, Andrew.
01:47You know what I mean?
01:48I'm very competitive, and I'm very outspoken,
01:51and, you know, I always say I won't say anything behind your back
01:53that I won't say to your face,
01:55and I guess people would rather you just say it behind their back.
01:58It's a little lonely in the boys' room.
02:02I thought Nicholas is going to be here.
02:04Roman Lawrence is going to be here.
02:06It's odd that I'm the last boy standing.
02:09Going through the whole competition was always about surviving,
02:14and now this is my last challenge.
02:16I want to show something that I'm absolutely so proud of
02:19for me, for my family, for my country,
02:23for everybody that I love.
02:26Last challenge.
02:37Hello.
02:38Hi.
02:39Are you ready for your next challenge?
02:40Yes.
02:41Well, there are only five of you left,
02:43and I don't have to tell you that Fashion Week is at your fingertips.
02:47Now that we're one challenge away from Bryant Park,
02:51it's so exciting, and every time I start thinking about it,
02:54my heart beats really fast.
02:56Your time in Los Angeles is almost over,
02:58so for your last challenge here,
02:59we're sending you to an iconic place that is rich in culture
03:03with priceless views.
03:05Tim is waiting for you at this impressive place
03:08to fill you in on all the details.
03:10Good luck, and I see you on the runway.
03:13Bye.
03:14Bye.
03:15It's so nice to the outside.
03:16Behind me I see the ocean, I see hills, and then in front of me I see this amazing building.
03:29It's like, could it get me better?
03:32Good morning to our final five, and welcome to the Getty Center.
03:36This is the heart of Los Angeles culture.
03:39Designers, during the sixth season of Project Runway,
03:42we have fully embraced Los Angeles,
03:44and in turn, Los Angeles has fully embraced us.
03:47And with that in mind, it is my enormous honor
03:49to introduce the mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villarrogoza.
03:53Hi Tim, how are you?
03:54Welcome to Los Angeles,
03:56the place that has inspired folks from across the nation and around the world.
04:00The fact that the mayor would take the time to welcome Project Runway really makes it hit home that this is a very serious thing.
04:08We're the creative capital of the nation, and we're also leading the way in fashion.
04:13Good luck to all of you.
04:15So for this challenge, you will use the Getty Center as a source of inspiration for a design of your choice.
04:22From the breathtaking views, to the lush garden landscapes, to the staggering architecture,
04:28and to the galleries filled with riches.
04:32So you have two days for this challenge.
04:35We're going to have a 30-minute tour, then you're going to have 30 minutes to sketch,
04:39and then we're going shopping at Mood, our last trip,
04:42and I have a special surprise.
04:44Your models are here to serve as your muses.
04:48Hello, ladies.
04:49Hello.
04:50So we're going to take a tour, all of us.
04:53Come with me.
04:56Oh.
04:57So good, ladies.
04:58So good, ladies.
05:03It's fancy at Versace.
05:05It does.
05:06Yeah.
05:11Tim gives us our final challenge, and that is to get inspired by the Getty,
05:16and that's not going to be hard.
05:18There's so much to see, so much to not touch.
05:21It's one boy.
05:22I don't know which one.
05:23One of them.
05:24Everywhere you look is just beautiful.
05:27Everything you look at is just unbelievable, and I'm so excited to be here.
05:34Oh, my gosh.
05:36I can't stop looking at it.
05:38Designers, you have 30 minutes to sketch and to take in the rest of the gardens, the galleries,
05:48the architecture, the incredible view, whatever you want.
05:51It's all here for you for inspiration for this last look.
05:54All right?
05:55So your 30 minutes starts right now.
05:58Enjoy it.
06:00Architecture is, I mean, I'm just stunned.
06:03It's probably one of my, like, top three buildings ever.
06:06The silhouette, I think, definitely has to be tailored.
06:08Yes.
06:09With this look.
06:10Very tailored.
06:11There's just so much inspiration to go off of.
06:13It's kind of overwhelming.
06:16I decided to go back to the European Decorative Arts.
06:19There's this big, beautiful French bed.
06:22It has all this drapery and feathers and fringe, and that, to me, was the piece that really stood out.
06:28Kaylin and I looked at so many amazing paintings, but we both stopped at this painting that said everything that I wanted to say, especially with my final look.
06:37Rubbling in the contrast of marble, tile, silk, fur, and flesh.
06:42I need that.
06:43I want to rip that flag off.
06:45The first thing I see is this fountain, and it's so beautiful, and it's so organic, with that little plant-like, that little algae growing on there.
06:53It's fantastic to finally have the opportunity to really vocalize your point of view.
07:00There it is.
07:01My inspiration is a painting by Monet.
07:04When I saw the painting, I see these colors, and it reminded me of Europe, where I'm from.
07:12So I really wanted to create that beauty that I have seen so many times.
07:17Very light and flowy, in a way.
07:19Yeah.
07:20It's very, like, light.
07:21Very spiritual, too.
07:22Yeah.
07:23Our visit to the Getty Center was staggering, wasn't it?
07:25Yeah.
07:26Just incredible.
07:27So, designers, say goodbye to your models, because you and I are headed off to Mood.
07:30Here we go.
07:31Here we go.
07:32Here we go.
07:33They're amazing.
07:34What a day.
07:35All right, designers, you have a budget of $300, and you have 30 minutes to shop.
07:43Your time starts now.
07:44In Mood, I'm looking for colors that I can manipulate into the flow of the cathedral.
07:54How are you doing?
07:55I'm hoping I'm doing good, even though it's costing me my life.
07:59What is this?
08:02Um, it would be an accent.
08:04Trust me.
08:05I do love this.
08:06I found a really cool fur.
08:09It actually, the outside of it looks like marble in the painting, which is really amazing.
08:14It's not goat.
08:15It's just a very shared rabbit.
08:16It's too big to be a rabbit.
08:17It's a giant, giant Scandinavian rabbit.
08:20Um, if you have it, like, seven years ago.
08:23Carol, Hannah, spend all of it.
08:25I'm going to.
08:26Good.
08:27If we can cut faster.
08:28Designers, two minutes remain.
08:32Is anyone listening to me?
08:34It's a dress.
08:35It's going to be a dress.
08:36So this would be the whole dress?
08:37It's very work.
08:41Designers, time is up.
08:46So you need to be at the counter now.
08:49Carol, Anna.
08:51All right, designers, this was our last trip to Mood.
08:54So let's give Mood a special goodbye.
08:56Thank you, Molly.
08:57Thank you, guys.
09:00Without you, we couldn't make it.
09:01It's true.
09:02Literally.
09:03Back to the work room, everybody.
09:05All right, designers, it's your last challenge.
09:14This is the challenge that will determine who among you will be going to New York Fashion Week.
09:20Invest more than you ever have in the success of your own work.
09:24And take risks.
09:25Okay?
09:26All right, I will see you later.
09:27Whew.
09:28This challenge is really hit or miss.
09:31Because you're drawing inspiration from a painting.
09:32So there's a lot more pressure.
09:33Heidi will be like, you didn't paint the picture on it.
09:34You know how she wants to be literally.
09:35For someone like me who lives in a small town to come here and perform and then to go
09:38on to Bryant Park is unbelievable.
09:40It's, oh my God.
09:41Coming up on Project Runway.
09:42Althea's sort of like King Kong, she wants to grab everything.
09:44I think she's just out for a lot of stuff.
09:45Oh, yeah.
09:46The tension is really heavy.
09:47It's looking a lot like roadkill.
09:48It's looking a lot like roadkill.
09:51It's a lot like roadkill.
09:52Cool, man.
09:53That's good.
09:54That's a lot of things that get in right?
09:55The house is like, you know, I'm like my naszego «Brit», right?
09:57Was this all the way to you?
09:58Yeah, it was.
09:59I'm like my family.
10:00What are you doing?
10:01Um, I'm like my family.
10:02The house is pretty big, you know.
10:03Oh, I'm like my family, I'm like my family.
10:04I love you.
10:05I don't know.
10:06is really heavy.
10:07It's looking a lot like roadkill.
10:15It's really exciting to be down to five.
10:18This is it.
10:20This is the end.
10:20And there's a lot more pressure and a lot more stress.
10:23Just knowing that this is the last challenge
10:25is a little bit intimidating, but also very gratifying.
10:31Making it to top five is huge.
10:33And now like Bright Park is so reachable
10:36that it would be really disappointing to go home.
10:41The atmosphere in the workroom is kind of awkward for me.
10:45Irina and Jordana have sort of become recent friends.
10:50And then Carole Hannah and Christopher are like buddy-buddy.
10:53I don't know.
10:54So I feel kind of alone.
10:56Althea is sort of like King Kong.
10:58She wants to grab everything.
11:00Today with the table space, I'm like, you have three tables.
11:02You really need to come.
11:04Like, I have to see you in front of me.
11:05I have to see you next to me.
11:07But you know, her highness needs to iron.
11:10Is it just me?
11:11Or was that whole table thing a little ridiculous?
11:14I'm going to go with what's the point?
11:16I think she's just out for blood.
11:18Oh, yeah.
11:19The fact that people are starting to pick at each other
11:23is definitely a sign of how far along we are in the competition.
11:27You know what they say, the dogs that bark don't bite.
11:30It's the quiet ones you have to be worried about.
11:32Exactly.
11:33It's always the cute dogs that just bite your fingers off.
11:36I just think it's silly.
11:37And if people are just going to keep to themselves
11:39and do their own work, I think it
11:41would be better for everyone.
11:49Why do you always assume they're making fun of you?
11:52Because Vicky, you do.
11:53There's other people here.
11:54You're not that important.
11:56Smart ass.
11:57No, don't start.
12:00We're kidding, girls.
12:01But we are kidding, though.
12:02We are not, like, fighting.
12:04I don't think y'all are being serious when you're bickering.
12:06It's just I don't want to listen to it.
12:08Well, too bad, Caroline.
12:09If you don't want to be, I'm not here to serve you.
12:13Thank God this is the last challenge,
12:15because I really think it would be hard
12:18to make it work for any longer.
12:29My family's from the Republic of Georgia.
12:31The culture's a bit behind in the sense
12:34that women aren't the breadwinners of the family.
12:38My dad thinks I'm ancient.
12:39I'm 26 years old, and he's just, like, stressed out
12:43that I'm, like, not married.
12:45Getting to Bryan Park and actually showing my collection
12:48will definitely be a bit of a wake-up call from my parents
12:51that, you know what, things will happen,
12:53and you just have to be persistent and keep pushing for it.
12:57Hi, everybody.
12:58Hey, Tim.
12:59Well, I'm here to check in with all of you,
13:01but I'm going to start with Christopher.
13:02I know your inspiration was the rock fountain.
13:05That's correct.
13:06The color palette that I wanted to go on,
13:08this kind of dull gray, and then spruce it up
13:11with, like, a green that kind of comes through on,
13:14you know, that little algae growing on there
13:16was so beautiful to me.
13:17Then there's going to be these angular pieces
13:21that represent the rock.
13:22But they look like stalactites.
13:23They're going to be edged in.
13:25You want this, the impact of this, to be, wow, oh, my God.
13:29You don't want it to be a head-scratching response,
13:32and then it's like, Christopher, what?
13:33Mm-hmm.
13:35That happens a lot to me.
13:36Just keep an editing eye upon this.
13:39How's girl, Hannah?
13:41Hi.
13:42So talk to me about what you're doing.
13:43OK.
13:44Oh, you have a bed.
13:45Yes.
13:46Oh, I love this bed.
13:48I am, too.
13:49I really want to replicate that very ornate texture
13:54that comes out of here.
13:55I thought there were so many interesting shapes.
13:57And then the most ornate part is really going
14:00to come kind of sweeping down here.
14:02Ah, what are you doing?
14:03You're going across the bodice?
14:04I think so.
14:07I think it loses the taste, and it loses the sophistication.
14:10Don't lose the sophistication.
14:12OK.
14:13All right, Carol, Hannah, thank you.
14:15How's Irina?
14:17Good thinking.
14:18So talk to me.
14:20I just really want to do a very sort
14:22of sheer, fleshy-looking.
14:24Fleshy?
14:24Fleshy, meaning like very, sort of like barely there.
14:28The dresses in the painting are very diaphanous.
14:32I mean, you can see through them.
14:34Yeah.
14:34This doesn't look that way to me, is it?
14:38It is pretty sheer.
14:39I mean, obviously, I've lined it.
14:41And then I have this.
14:42This.
14:46It's looking a lot like roadkill.
14:49It worries me.
14:50And seeing it with this, it's like a post-apocalyptic moment.
14:54So you really need to make this work, Irina.
14:57Mm-hmm.
14:58I do.
15:02Wow, Althea.
15:03Talk to me.
15:05Well, I was taken away by the architecture of this place.
15:09And what I'm doing is sort of creating lines, but using them
15:13in different angles to try to get that sort of effect
15:17that the building had.
15:18I'm perplexed over why you chose that kind of construction
15:21method for this.
15:23Unless you want to go for a pebbly, puckery effect, I find
15:27that to be troublesome.
15:28In fact, if I squint my eyes, it's just a panel of puckering.
15:31I hate to tell you, bring a critical eye to this
15:34and be as objective as you can be in your analysis.
15:37Yeah.
15:37Because this needs work.
15:40Yeah.
15:43Well, Jordana, I have absolutely no difficulty
15:47seeing the painting in this.
15:49You really achieved it.
15:50This was my challenge, and I couldn't tell you
15:56how emotional I am about this painting.
15:59Talk to me.
16:00What is it about the painting that you are emotional?
16:03Nobody knows, but I'm a very spiritual person.
16:07And the colors are so angelic.
16:10I wanted to create something regardless of the judges.
16:13I wanted to create something that I'm in love with,
16:16and I'm in love with this.
16:18I never know what the judges are going to say.
16:20Needless to say.
16:21Of course.
16:22Me neither.
16:23But I'm really impressed with this.
16:25Thank you very much.
16:27Designers, I just want to underscore that while you
16:32could all ascend and succeed, in a way you're all at risk.
16:36And I hate saying that, but it's simply a matter of fact.
16:39Because it is, it's a competition.
16:43But I do believe in each and every one of you, all right?
16:46So I am sending in your models for a fitting.
16:48You will have 30 minutes with them.
16:50Use your time well.
16:51OK?
16:52All right.
16:54I'll see you later.
16:55See you later.
16:56This is our last, like, fitting fitting.
17:02And you've got to get out these puckers somehow.
17:05But I think...
17:06Althea might have a problem.
17:09The fabric that she's chosen is not the best fabric to choose
17:13because it puckers and it shows every single one of them.
17:17So what's the difference of here versus here?
17:19I don't know.
17:20I'm hoping it's just the ironing.
17:21That's what I'm thinking.
17:22I like where she's going.
17:24I just hope she gets there.
17:28You think I'm scared?
17:29Yeah.
17:30Why?
17:31Because I'm the odd duck of the group.
17:33I get it.
17:34Like, there's no illusion.
17:37I know my place in this competition.
17:39I'm the wacky, weird guy who doesn't listen
17:43and just does whatever the hell he wants to do.
17:46And it almost got me thrown off a couple of times.
17:49But I'm still here and I'm going to still do my thing.
17:54So after Tim's critique, I decide that, you know,
17:57I'm not going to do the whole fur wrap thing.
18:00I'm going to take Tim's advice
18:01and invest all of my time into the dress.
18:03There's still a lot of work to be done.
18:05I'm exhausted.
18:06It's, like, only, like, a couple more days.
18:08Yeah.
18:09And it's not going to change anything.
18:10You can do anything for a couple days.
18:11Exactly.
18:12Jordana's dress is a simple silhouette.
18:15The simplicity is beautiful and it's a beautiful dress,
18:17but it's not a last challenge dress.
18:20It's not a, I'm going to wow the judges with my skill dress.
18:23I'm just creating my angel.
18:25I'm so happy you just decided to do something that you love.
18:28Yeah.
18:29Thank you so much.
18:35Ah!
18:36This iron's hot, you guys.
18:40This is the most stressed out I've ever been on a challenge
18:43because it's the last one.
18:44Mm-hmm.
18:45It's just I really want to go to fashion night.
18:48I do think that everyone else is kind of freaked out.
18:51I think everyone's sort of, you know, aiming to please.
18:55No one wants to go home.
18:59Coming up on Project Only.
19:01I am so nervous.
19:03I have to do what's right for me.
19:05Yeah.
19:06Christopher's very confident, but it's a false confidence.
19:09This one has to be amazing.
19:10Designers and models, this is it.
19:12There's a lot of pressure with this challenge.
19:26Even greater than some of the other challenges.
19:28Because we're one step away from Fashion Week.
19:30This one has to be amazing.
19:39Yeah.
19:40I woke up and I got really nervous.
19:42I think because it's just the last one, you feel like you should go out with something like crazy.
19:48We've definitely learned by this point that you cannot predict what the judges are going to think, how they're going to receive things.
19:57They're deciding the rest of our lives.
19:59I keep, like, saying to myself, well, I mean, there's nothing I can do right now.
20:05I have done already what I could have done.
20:09Final runway show is going to be so important to me.
20:14I have created something that I'm absolutely proud of.
20:17I mean, hey, I'm here for the final challenge.
20:20How many people can say that?
20:22All right, girls, let's go.
20:24Let's go show them what we're made of.
20:26Oh, yeah.
20:28I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed.
20:41You know, I've got this skirt that I really like, but there's just so many pattern pieces.
20:47And I'm just hoping that it all comes together.
20:51Time is pretty scarce this morning.
20:53I feel like I'm in an adventure movie, and I'm running on one of those bridges,
20:58and I'm running as fast as I can before it breaks off completely.
21:03Do you not feel a little crazy?
21:05No.
21:06No? Totally normal?
21:07Yeah.
21:08Every day for you?
21:09Yeah.
21:10Good morning, designers.
21:11It's your last runway show.
21:14I'm about to send in your models.
21:16You have an hour to send them to the Garnier hair studio in the L'Oreal Paris makeup room.
21:21And when you're putting together your look, use the Macy's accessory wall thoughtfully.
21:25I'm sending in your models.
21:26Thanks, Tim.
21:31How are you?
21:36I love my dress.
21:38I believe I definitely have hit the challenge and the target.
21:43Well, I don't want it to fall off you.
21:46I can take it in.
21:47Tighter is better.
21:48My dress encompasses who I am as a designer.
21:51It's pretty, and it's kind of dirty.
21:55I think the judges are going to see my design aesthetic in this piece,
21:59and they're going to send me through to Bryan Park.
22:01I just want, like, really clean, but dreamy kind of look.
22:12Her piece is really long and lean and ethereal.
22:14We're kind of going sort of bridge up our dope.
22:17Almost like a sumo wrestler.
22:21Designers, in 15 minutes, we are all walking to the runway.
22:27It's that last final runway, and everything's at stake today.
22:31I have to do what's right for me.
22:33Yeah.
22:34Like, you know, that's why I'm here.
22:36Christopher's very confident, but it's a false confidence,
22:39because he's so in his head that he just can't see anything outside of it.
22:44What's got to show?
22:46I just think his look is going to really put him in trouble again.
22:50Irina's design, you know, it has no tailoring.
22:54It's very loose.
22:56It's flowy.
22:57You know, I don't think it's ugly by any means.
22:59It's definitely not a wow.
23:00Look at that garment.
23:01Oh, I'm sorry, honey.
23:02Are you okay?
23:03I'm so sorry.
23:04Althea's struggling to finish everything.
23:06I mean, but that's been the case with her since day one.
23:09Like, sometimes she does an okay job with the construction,
23:13but most of the time, it's really poorly finished.
23:16Designers and models, this is it.
23:19I want to wow those judges.
23:21I want Nina Garcia's stilettos to blow right off of her feet
23:24and shoot across the runway.
23:31Coming up on Project Runway, it's a bit of a mess fest.
23:34Not so great from the back.
23:37Are you confident in this as your final challenge look?
23:49Hello.
23:50Hi.
23:51Welcome to the runway.
23:52As you know, in fashion one day you're in,
23:54and the next day you're out.
23:56There are five of you here, and after tonight there will be three.
24:00And those three will compete at New York Fashion Week.
24:04For this challenge, we allowed you to draw your inspiration
24:07from the Getty Center.
24:09I really look forward to seeing what you've done.
24:11All right, let's meet the judges.
24:13First we have fashion designer, Cynthia Rowley.
24:16Fashion director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia.
24:20Hey everyone.
24:21And supermodel and style icon, Cindy Crawford.
24:23Hi, Cindy.
24:26We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
24:30Three of you will make it to New York Fashion Week,
24:33and two of you will be out.
24:39Let's start the show.
24:42Nothing's popping out.
24:44The opening of the seams are moving pretty nicely,
24:47so I'm feeling good.
24:48It shows that I'm willing to take risks,
24:50and if I do go home today it won't because I'm playing it safe.
24:55I feel great when Lisa comes around the corner
24:57because the dress looks so good on her.
24:59It definitely creates that town and country look
25:02that I'm going for on this piece,
25:04so I'm really happy.
25:09This time I really took a chance.
25:11I found my inspiration in maybe the most unexpected place.
25:15I hope the judges see this and see a designer
25:19who deserves to be at Fashion Week.
25:23Looking at my garment, it just puts tears in my eyes.
25:26I'm so happy.
25:28I have created that look that I wanted from a spiritual level.
25:32My garment represents my soul, not only my capable hands.
25:39In this challenge, I wanted to do something different.
25:41I just really want to show them that there is another side,
25:44and things could still be sort of subtle and still have boldness.
25:49It looks great, especially like with inspiration.
25:52It's right what I had envisioned.
25:57We have scored your designs as they came down the runway.
25:59Three of you will be going to New York Fashion Week,
26:02and two of you will be out.
26:04All right, let's bring out your models.
26:08Althea, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
26:20I was inspired by the architecture of the Getty Centre.
26:23It's really like a lot of parallel lines that are both vertical and horizontal,
26:28and then there's these sort of unexpected curves.
26:32I think you're very brave to try all that pleating,
26:34because that's probably one of your hardest patterns to make.
26:38It's also very hard to wear.
26:40I definitely see the architectural inspiration on the skirt.
26:45It seems a little ambitious, maybe.
26:48It seems that the skirt maybe is a little overworked,
26:51and the top is a little underworked.
26:53There's nothing wrong with an ambitious plan,
26:57but you clearly spent most of your time trying to finish this bottom
27:00and barely got to the top.
27:03It's a bit of a mess fest.
27:04I'm a bit shocked to see this from you today.
27:07I feel like you bit off so much more than you could chew.
27:10Irina, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
27:14As Kayla and I walked through the galleries,
27:16we were both completely enamored with the painting Mischief and Repose.
27:20It was like fur and chiffon, and then these very fleshy ladies.
27:25You know, I wanted this sort of very sensual, beautiful,
27:28almost like a goddess gown with this really tough styling.
27:32I like the back.
27:34I think that's, you know, very pretty.
27:37I think the length is very old lady.
27:40It is.
27:41Cindy, what do you think?
27:43Oh, I love the color.
27:44I like the inspiration, but I felt like the shoes to me were a big disconnect
27:48because they're so, so heavy that it takes away from the lightness of the fabric.
27:53I agree.
27:54I want to take the shoes off and many more things.
27:57If all that stuff would come off, she would look already so much better.
28:00Can you take it off?
28:01Let's do it.
28:08Better.
28:09If you're going for simple, then just make it what it is.
28:12Okay, Giordana, tell us about your inspiration.
28:17My inspiration was the Ruan Cathedral in Morning Light,
28:21and when I saw this painting by Monet, everything else disappeared.
28:27I knew right away that I wanted to work with silk organza
28:30because I wanted to manipulate the fabric to almost create like a brush strokes
28:35and to create a person that's almost like angelic, like coming out of that cathedral.
28:40I have to tell you, I can absolutely see the connection with the painting.
28:45You know, it's a perfectly made dress.
28:47My concern is that I still wonder if there is a moment where you can just really take a chance.
28:55And a lot of what being a designer is, is taking chances.
29:00I could see myself wearing that.
29:02It looks comfortable, beautiful, practical.
29:05Can we see the back?
29:09I'm not loving the big, chunky zipper in the back.
29:14Not so great from the back, but beautiful from the front.
29:19All right, Carol Hanna, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
29:22I was inspired by pretty much the entire European decorative arts gallery.
29:28Specifically, this French bed from 1775.
29:31So I really wanted to replicate the regal, sophisticated feel from the piece.
29:37Well, I think the fit is fantastic.
29:40I like the detail on the shoulder.
29:42I think it's really pretty.
29:44Originally, when it came out, I didn't get the inspiration.
29:48I think it's a beautiful, well-executed dress.
29:50It's just, I don't look at this picture and then see that dress.
29:53My only concern is that you are playing it very safe.
29:58It is perfect, but it is almost a safe perfection.
30:03All right, Christopher.
30:05My inspiration came from a rock fountain at the Getty.
30:08And where the water would hit the boulders, this little hint of algae would come through this little green.
30:14And I was inspired by that color combination and how natural it was.
30:19I love the top part.
30:21It seems a little bit heavy on the bottom.
30:24Is it the wrong fabric?
30:25It seems like the fabric is a little bit heavy for a long skirt like that.
30:30I agree.
30:31I mean, it's so flattering, like the upper part, but the stiffness of the skirt.
30:36It wasn't like moving with her.
30:38The skirt had a life of its own.
30:40Christopher, you're a very talented designer.
30:42Are you confident in this as your final challenge look?
30:46This piece speaks more about me than any of the pieces I put down the runway.
30:56Looking at all the other inspirations, they were these beautiful pieces of artwork.
31:03And mine was a rock with algae on it.
31:06And not everybody would see the beauty in that.
31:10And it's like, that's me.
31:12Those pieces together.
31:24Thank you for sharing with us, Christopher.
31:26Thank you, honey.
31:28Jordana, why do you deserve to go to Fashion Week?
31:31And which other two designers should come with you?
31:33When I was growing up, I was dyeing fabrics in onion peel and cutting everything possible I can get my hands on
31:41because we didn't have resources.
31:43And I feel like if I was on a Fashion Week and I had the time to do it, I could really create something that would be totally unique.
31:50As for a designer who to choose, I would say Christopher because he really wants it so much.
31:56And Irina because she really showed week after week that she wants it much too.
32:03Althea.
32:04I think consistently throughout the competition, I've really pushed myself.
32:09I've never been in the bottom and I have the skills and the vision to put a really beautiful collection out there.
32:16As far as who should come with me, I think both Carol Hannah and Irina.
32:23Carol Hannah, why do you deserve to go to Fashion Week?
32:26I mean, I can go into my whole story of teaching myself and not going to school for this, blah, blah, blah.
32:32But it doesn't matter and it doesn't matter how much you want it.
32:35When it comes down to it, I think that I make beautiful garments that women want to wear.
32:40And what two designers should go with you?
32:42I think that Christopher should be there because he has ideas that are interesting all the time.
32:49And I think that Althea also, she's sometimes a little over ambitious, but the things that she does, they're provoking.
33:00Irina.
33:01You know, my parents are immigrants. I am too. I wasn't born in this country.
33:05So I think in many ways, you know, a lot of people who come here with a dream, they kind of get lost because it becomes so tough.
33:13So it's okay to dream as long as you push it and work on it and just don't give up. So that's why I want to go.
33:21And who should go with you?
33:22I've already been called mean. I don't want to do this.
33:26I think you guys are all great, but judging on work, I do think Althea and Jordana.
33:35Christopher.
33:36I haven't had a lot of opportunities to have success in my life. And this would truly be the biggest success so far.
33:48I have to say, in my heart, Irina deserves to go to Fashion Week. The other designer is Carol Hanna.
33:55I think that all of you have given us a lot to think about today. We're going to have a little chat and then I'm going to call you back.
34:05Now you can leave the runway. Thank you.
34:12I think that it did really well this week. It is a very hard last challenge to do because, you know, normally I say, okay, this is your challenge. You all have the same thing.
34:21And now the sky was the limit. I always think that's harder. You know, some people maybe over challenge themselves, but knowing that this was like their last chance to really shine.
34:30Like I think for Althea, like Althea is a great designer, but I think that she let us down today.
34:36Althea's was a mess in construction and it was unfinished, but she pushed herself to go the extra step.
34:45Let's talk about Irina.
34:46I like the inspiration that she chose, which is kind of part of it. And I think she did a really good job of executing that inspiration.
34:57From the bottom down, I felt like it was just dowdy. She has a very clear vision and it definitely did refer to the painting.
35:05Let's talk about Christopher. He does do these beautiful tops, but the bottom bit, it was almost like a thick jean skirt in a way.
35:17Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
35:18That reminded me. I have one of those from like way back when.
35:21It was doubly uncomfortable with the corset waist. So it was like all the things that you don't want to wear.
35:28The thing is, he still doesn't know that it was the wrong fabric. He hasn't worked enough to know what is the right fabric to choose. He has the ideas. It's just a technically he's not there yet.
35:39He has a lot of passion. I mean, he got this far. He's done beautiful work over the past few weeks.
35:45Let's talk about Carol Hannah. Carol Hannah has always been quite safe. I mean, she was a pretty beautiful, sophisticated down. She did.
35:57She does have a bit of class. I mean, it was impeccably made out of all of these. Yes, hers was the standout piece.
36:04Let's talk about Jordana. I love what she did today. I mean, for me, this was the closest to the inspiration.
36:13And one of her best outfits. Do you think she's always been edgy? I just think her aesthetic is more simple.
36:22Well, here's the other thing that I don't quite grasp about Jordana. I don't know who Jordana is as a designer.
36:30To not know it at this point is a problem. It's been hidden myth.
36:35I think this is definitely one of the toughest decisions that we've had. Yeah.
36:44But we've made our decision. Yes. Yeah. Let's bring them back up.
36:50Three of you will be going to Fashion Week. And two of you will be out.
37:11Irina, you've consistently performed well this season. Today was no exception. You're going to Fashion Week.
37:32You can use the runway. Congratulations. Thank you, everyone.
37:41Christopher, you've really done some very inspired work. But we think that you need more experience.
37:51I'm sorry, you're out. We really appreciate that you can see beauty in the unusual. Remember, that is a strength that you have and you should never lose that.
38:06See you again, Christopher. Bye.
38:08Bye.
38:09Bye.
38:10Bye.
38:11Bye.
38:16Not for me.
38:19I...
38:20No, I'm not going.
38:21Oh, I'm sorry.
38:28Carol Hannah.
38:31We didn't totally understand the connection between your look and your inspiration. But your dress today was beautifully made and true to your point of view.
38:43Carol Hannah, you're going to Fashion Week.
38:50Congratulations. You can leave the runway.
38:541
38:55You know it?

39:24Well, we very much liked your dress.
39:27We thought that it had some construction issues.
39:29And we're not sure that it was spectacular enough
39:32to overcome some of our reservations about you.
39:36Althea, you really disappointed us today.
39:43Your look was a mess.
39:46But we do appreciate that you have confidence
39:49and that you take risks.
39:52Althea.
39:54You're going to Fashion Week.
40:04Congratulations.
40:05You can meet the runway.
40:12Oh, my God.
40:14Yeah.
40:14Yeah.
40:16Congratulations.
40:20Jordana, I'm sorry.
40:22That means you're out.
40:24We're very impressed by your journey.
40:27And as you continue to grow, we see great things ahead for you.
40:31Happy to see you.
40:47Good luck.
40:47Oh, well.
40:49What was a gorgeous dress?
40:50stress. I have put myself out there. I have shown people what I can do and if it's time for me to go
40:59then so be it. Well, I can't stand this. I was hoping five of you were going. So congratulations
41:10to those of you who are. And Jordana and Christopher, I have to send you to the workroom
41:17to clean up your spaces. I'm lucky. I got to participate in every challenge. Sure, I don't
41:23get to create a 12-look collection at Fashion Week, but I created a 12-look collection on the runway.
41:31I don't want to leave from here sad because I'm not in the top three. What I want to leave from
41:36here is as a proud person who came from nowhere and made it so far.
41:47Next week on Project Runway, the three of you are going to New York Fashion Week.
41:53And I will be checking in on you and the development of your collections.
41:57Irena, how are you? Hi, Sam. And it's over a pant. It is over a pant. I have made pants.
42:02This will cause a gasp. She's visiting the Wild West. I'm so excited to be in New York City.
42:08It's the Olympics of fashion. Althea, what would you do without me? Irena keeps on making snide
42:14comments. Just like, shut up. I just feel really horrible. The poor thing is sick.
42:20Oh, no. It's contagious. Oh, no. Really?
42:23Oh, yeah.
42:32I'm sorry.
42:33Oh, no.
42:34You were out ofç”°.
42:39Oh, no.
42:42You were out of it here.
42:44Oh, yeah.
42:45Are you kidding me?
42:47Oh, no.
42:48I'm so excited,рывo.
42:50Dependently.
42:50Ah, no.
