00:01Previously on Project Runway...
00:03Say hello to your clients for this challenge.
00:06What they wear will be their ticket to the future.
00:10Sexy, but not too much.
00:12Simple, but interesting.
00:14She just had a whole list.
00:16Classy, fitted, short, punk.
00:19Forgive me for this blunt word, it looks messy.
00:27Athea, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:30You've just aged her 10, 15 years.
00:34Which, for the model world, is like dog years.
00:37Crystal, you're out.
00:42This is Project Runway.
00:43Of course I'm the best.
00:45Let's do this.
00:46The search for the next big fashion designer.
00:48I have to win.
00:49You better watch out.
00:51Sixteen designers.
00:52Ivan, you're out.
00:54Don't get cut.
00:55Three finalists will make it to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
00:58I'm the best designer here.
01:00I have no fear.
01:01Make it work.
01:02That's my one.
01:03But only one can be the winner.
01:05This is my dream.
01:06For these 16 designers, Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
01:11The winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in Marie-Claire magazine.
01:16A Paris vacation courtesy of Avian.
01:19And $100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to start their own line.
01:23It's so weird with Crystal on here.
01:36It's like quieter.
01:37It's really quiet.
01:39As people go home, we're kind of narrowing down the designers to the people who really have it together.
01:46But someone has to go home, so that's a little bit scary.
01:50I wonder what the next challenge will be.
01:52Whatever it is, I'm sure there is a twist to it, as usual.
01:57I'm just never gonna be in that bottom three again.
02:02Being in the bottom three is probably the most empty feeling I've ever felt.
02:07It's like being punched in the stomach and having a lot of air taken out of you.
02:10My mindset is pretty focused on what I need to do now.
02:13I really want to get to Bright Park, so I'm really trying to get my job done.
02:16I don't want the judges to think she made one good garment.
02:20Is it luck, or is it that she's actually talented?
02:22So I really want to show that I can continue to produce great work.
02:26All right, girls, you ready?
02:28Althea ends up winning, and I was in utter shock.
02:32I'll be the first one to congratulate anyone that wins if I feel like it was well-earned, and that wasn't.
02:39I'm nervous.
02:40I'm not.
02:41The people that do not deserve to be here is obviously Johnny, and Irina is slowly creeping up that list.
02:50Everybody doesn't deserve to be here, because I'm supposed to win, but...
02:53New challenge.
02:54New challenge.
02:55New challenge.
02:56New challenge.
02:57New challenge.
03:02New challenge.
03:10New challenge.
03:11Hello.
03:14How are you?
03:15How are you?
03:16How's everyone?
03:17Good.
03:18How are you?
03:19Althea, you won the last challenge.
03:20So you have immunity, and you cannot be eliminated this week.
03:24Tim is waiting for you, and he's going to take you on another little field trip.
03:28this challenge will definitely be tough but the answers will all be in black and white
03:38all right i wish you all good luck and i see you on the runway bye
03:49heidi tells us that our challenge is based on something black and white and because we're in
03:54la that my thoughts instantly go to like old hollywood black and white movies
04:01any ideas hi everybody ready for your field trip yes follow me
04:09there are a lot of really big buildings i'm starting to think okay we're going to some
04:14sort of factory designers welcome to the los angeles times the destination for your challenge
04:21we arrive at huge building that is where they make all the newspapers i'm like okay this is
04:40newspapers what does this have to do with fashion i'm going this way designers i am honored to
04:50introduce booth more the celebrated fashion critic of the los angeles times as all of you know many
04:55elements of fashion are derived from today's headlines from politics to pop culture to finance
05:02fashion is news and there's no one better to expand on this topic than booth thanks tim so for your
05:08next challenge you're going to bring all this down to a practical level and you're going to use pages
05:13from the newspaper to create your next look behind us are five pallets each containing a different
05:22section of the los angeles times we have news business sports calendar and image
05:28this is the fabric for your challenge okay our material is newspaper um yeah
05:36i'm speechless there are plastic bags for each of you and you have three minutes to gather as much
05:45paper as you can all right and your three minutes begins now
05:55as soon as that time starts i sprint for it i already have a point of view and it's based off of
06:00like a strip of color that i see from a stack of papers designers 30 seconds we have three minutes
06:11to collect all the paper and everyone else is going insane grabbing stacks and stacks of paper i'm like
06:17what are you guys doing i mean you're dressing a human not an elephant all right everyone time is up
06:25that's it designers come with me
06:40whoa can't get in this challenge is to create a garment entirely out of paper and it can be anything from
06:50a bikini to a wedding dress all right in preparation for our newspaper challenge we have dyes we have
07:00brushes we have markers and you can use muslin as an infrastructure however it may not show great paper
07:07clothing has quite a distinguished history the first paper dress was created in 1968 40 years ago and it
07:15made headline news and there was quite a fervor for paper clothing paper clothing not just dresses
07:21pants whatever you want um there were even paper slippers so continue this tradition but rebrand it for
07:282009 and have a great time you have until midnight tonight for this challenge
07:35and the winner of this challenge will have immunity all right i will be back to check in on you later
07:42okay thanks everybody make it work
07:49i'm trying to be really ambitious with this newspaper dress i want to do a really fitted rigid
07:56bodice and then this dress that goes out into hundreds of feathers created out of newspaper
08:01so that's that's a lot of work to do i'm getting a little nervous
08:08tell me something i can do in fabric and i can tell you what fabrics are good for what
08:12i have no idea what paper shapes make the best things i mean it's just like seriously starting
08:17from like the bottom and trying to work in your like fashion sense into it i just really want to
08:23experiment because i don't know what to do
08:28i figured out the silhouette i wanted and what i kind of wanted to do but i knew that i would have to
08:33first dye all the paper so it could dry in time this does not look pretty to me depends on where
08:40you go with it though i have never worked with newspaper before i don't know how to work with
08:49newspaper i have never sewn newspaper so basically right now i'm thinking that i'm going home tomorrow
08:57and it's not a very good feeling i seriously have no clue what i'm doing
09:08my whole thing is i'm going to mix materials and colors and sort of really make it look like fabric
09:13and it doesn't have to still look like newspaper so i think i'm just going to do a dress and sort of
09:19create a print with newspaper
09:21i think i'm going to paper mache a bodice and then make some crazy origami-esque skirt
09:34like shellac her into this dress i'm gonna have glue all over me when this is over
09:43it's okay we're good we're good
09:47my hands are so sticky
09:51i don't think i've ever really met a small woman like that that makes so much noise
09:56i feel like i'm groping this man again i'm like
09:58oh you know what will be fun later though is peeling the glue off of your hands i know we're
10:06kind of the same age but it just makes me feel like i'm 40 around her like she turns into this like
10:1111 year old kid who just like does not shut up does anybody name their mannequin
10:19nobody be quiet you know just like sit there and do your work i might divulge that information later
10:25i really can't deal with it right now because i really have to get my together
10:35i'm doing this really great dress that looks like origami
10:39and it has origami cranes coming off the shoulder that are actually holding the dress up
10:43are you serious my dress is looking like this very pretty draped and wrapped and folded piece
10:48of large-scale origami and i'm really stoked by my dress so i get some weird idea to start painting
10:54it with a fabric dye i'm sitting next to johnny and for the whole time that he was draping his garment
11:01i keep looking over at it and i'm in a little bit of shock it is just awful and this is just some
11:07wrinkled up paper with pig's blood all over it this ought to be interesting
11:16coming up on project runway i'm just looking at the design it's very ho-hum
11:20you are gonna have a time challenge i do so do it it looks like a bunch of kindergartners did it ouch
11:35i got like all this paper and i'm totally blanking all of a sudden the fact that i can use like an
11:40unconventional material to convey like a point of view is really really exciting to me so i'm being
11:46inspired by unexpected pattern within the paper but then also the idea of cubism and origami
11:55my plan is to make a headline dress it's it's a dress completely decoupaged from headlines that
12:03i'm clipping out of the newspaper hi everybody hello i'm here to check in and see how you're doing
12:09and i'm going to start with jordana all right i'm creating actually two garments one of them is going
12:17to be talking about what is happening in the world today and i'm going to put like time to change on it
12:26i i have great respect for your idea jordana it's more about a political statement and i'm just looking
12:32at the design it's very ho-hum and looking at the design of this this is the antithesis of ho-hum
12:40this is the change it's all through your fashion so your point of view as a designer yeah put your
12:45time and energy into this okay and is there an infrastructure of muslin or anything is it just
12:50newspaper i love you thank you stunning thank you okay just keep going thank you all right what a great
12:58way to start hi althea hey how are you talk to me what are you doing so i was thinking make some
13:05shoulder pads and then use this as sort of like drape and almost create fabric out of it i mean
13:10the nice thing is you have immunity you can do whatever you want yeah but it disappoints me in a
13:16way i would encourage you to to look at the paper upside down that way you'll just look at it as
13:22abstract shapes and forms that's a really good advice okay go go go irina talk to me i started with
13:38this little dress but i just don't like the way it dries and how stiff it is so then i was actually
13:46thinking of doing sort of like a trench coat okay but um i just don't think without the muslin base
13:53it would really work 1968 the paper raincoat wasn't on muslin all right okay okay thank you
14:03all right johnny what's going on it's basically a large scale organs birds on the shoulder coming
14:10around from the outside i'm woeful johnny because right now it looks like a craft project going
14:16awry that's not good no it looks like a bunch of kindergartners did it i guess i should start
14:22something different because what's going to happen is the birds are actually going to look like they're
14:25holding the dress up and they look like the birds attacked the dress
14:32ouch is my reaction i've got to do something else i've got to do it in four and a half hours
14:38so i'm starting over hi tim nicholas how are you at this point i'm just sort of like going
14:51with it and seeing where it takes me you have a good trajectory going just sustain your momentum here
14:58but you think i'm going in a good direction though you just need to ensure that this doesn't end up
15:03looking too costuming right exactly at the same time you want it to be interesting all right tim
15:10thank you thank you i'm going to keep working okay christopher tim how are you doing i wanted like a
15:18showstopper so i wanted to do this full length feather god is this your plan yeah i think you can
15:26have a showstopper i i want to do these paper feathers all the way down i was inspired by the
15:32by the newspaper i love just the black and white the clean print the last thing you need to do is
15:37talk to me okay so do it thank you i can't wait to see this all right thanks tim thank you yep
15:43designers i am absolutely wowed and i'm really inspired i cannot wait for this runway show and
15:51your models will be coming in in a little while all right thank you everybody i will see you tomorrow
15:57all right thank you
16:04after i throw the dress away i have all these extra squares that i was going to fold into origami birds
16:08so i started laying it out tiling the squares on the muslin hoping and praying that god please
16:13let this work let something good come out of this vermont does this look like spur to you i want to do like
16:20a shawl collar trench coat i had the idea of the trench coat in the beginning but when tim said you
16:27know what there was a version of a coat made out of paper and it clicked i said you know what if it
16:33was made then it's possible then i could do it when i first moved to new york city at the age of 17
16:39and back then i used to hang out with a lot of punk rock kids down in the east village so i thought oh you
16:44know maybe i should do kind of like a 90s the millennium version of punk rock and so i sort of went from
16:50there i look for images and then i really started like getting the sort of idea of my dress and piecing
17:01together the different images to create a dress and how can i use this challenge to my advantage
17:08at this point i'm kind of the wilder i'm not really loving it at all now because i thought i had a good
17:12idea in the first place and it turns out that it really wasn't that good of an idea oh it's so cool
17:34it's like so chic you know i'm slightly worried about the paper tearing you know when you're designing a
17:39non-fabric material you have to consider her moving because she's not you know she's not a mannequin
17:45she's not going to stand still the whole time the skirt is really really heavy and the dress being
17:55a strapless that's going to be my only challenge i think is trying to keep that dress from falling off
18:00on the runway
18:04does that feel better
18:14you're going to wear those birds now when emery comes in for the model fitting i'm feeling
18:18really really just disappointed in myself and i'm kind of nervous do you want to know what else
18:23happened is when i was ironing it just took an iron paper the steamer decided it was going to start
18:28spilling and water up all over it he just starts spewing this whole sob story how the whole thing was
18:35ruined by a steamer like this mysterious steamer accident we didn't want to have a steamer in the
18:39sewing room that day we find out that johnny had made up this lie so basically johnny tore up his first
18:46dress just because tim gunn came and said it was pretty bad i'm getting really tired and i hate what
19:03i've done so i started doing a crossword puzzle the majority of the designers are really sick of the
19:12whole johnny attitude the lack of passion that he puts into his designs and the lack of time spent
19:19on it i looked over and i saw he was like doing a crossword puzzle some people just don't really have
19:24the follow through as others all right kids we gotta go
19:42what a day who would have thought paper would be so difficult i know i love this challenge i love
19:50the idea of it it's something that i really wanted tim tore my ass apart did he what he said the first
19:56dress he did oh my god wait so you have an all new piece all new to be completely honest with you i
20:03will become because i was ironing it and the iron decided to sputter and the the top of it started to
20:10rip johnny complaining and maybe making up a story with the steamer is kind of bs as soon as i put it
20:17down i went because i know that tim came in at about seven o'clock and that's when he threw his dress
20:22out i'm really curious to see what the what the judges are gonna do what did tim say birds are attacking
20:31because right now it looks like a craft project gone awry
20:35coming up on project runway some of you look like you're kind of stalling out i'm just really
20:50struggling oh my god i'm so nervous if i go home on an arts and crafts project i'm not gonna be happy
20:57it's just a nightmare oh man all right so who do you like like the most i like altias the way it's
21:14turning out working with paper is a lot different than i expected but even though i have immunity i'm
21:20still working just as hard who do we think is gonna be in the bottom do you like nicholas's i'm not
21:27wild about it it's the morning of the runaway show i'm just really struggling with the newspaper
21:34challenge everybody else seems to be having a blast what do you think johnny has under his shroud
21:39i think he wants an unveiling he almost wants an unveiling he's still here for a reason yes i'll make
21:47relief i really don't care what other designers think about me i don't give a damn get over it
21:56you're coming to go yeah yeah all right heidi tear us apart in the runaway yeah literally exactly all right
22:04nothing fell off yet this is image i took an approach that not a lot of people took and they did
22:23separates i did a top and i did a skirt so i'm a little anxious
22:27so i decided to go with my trench coat idea it's definitely risky doing a coat because i don't
22:37know if the sleeves are ever going to happen or not it's just a nightmare good morning everybody
22:44i'm very excited about today's show it's going to be interesting to say the least
22:48i'm about to send in your models you have two hours to achieve the following send them to the
22:53garnier hair studio to the l'oreal paris makeup room and fit them in your garments please use the
23:00macy's accessory wall and i will tell you i took a look around the room this morning some of you look
23:05like you're kind of stalling out don't let that happen okay rally i'm gonna send in your models
23:15well i'm gonna fit the bodice on you i think it's pretty cool i think it's really cool i think
23:21you're trying to lift my spirits but um i don't have enough time to do what i would want to do
23:25to it if they like it they like it if they don't yeah sorry i definitely feel like i'm ahead of the
23:31game i have constructed the dress perfectly you wouldn't even be able to tell that it's made out
23:36of paper can you even walk in there yeah really i'm so nervous i finished my dress and then i realized
23:49not only do i have to get it on my model first i have to get it off of my mannequin hooray
24:01yeah it's one of the ones i'm coming i'm like it's like it looks blah and like compared to all the
24:07work everyone else did it looks very easy althea i see her glancing at me with these sort of weird eyes
24:13so i don't know what that's all about but i don't even really want to know let's go get your herded we
24:19don't get her herded just put it up
24:25higher yeah so just like bulbs and reds in the in the bottom of the crease
24:35i think that's really true full-on
24:38home draw thank you designers and models in exactly five minutes we are going to the runway
24:51pack up a little emergency repair kit including lots of tape
24:54it's like giving birth oh my god it's so cute if i go home an arts and crafts project i'm not going
25:07to be happy johnny thinks very highly of himself and the dress that he's about to send down the runway
25:15i hope the judges tear him apart for it nicholas's design looks a little stupid it's definitely not
25:22punk rock it's i don't know stump rock it's dinosaur chic all right designers and models time is up
25:31follow me please we're going down to the runway oh my god yeah come everybody awesome we're done ladies
25:41coming up on project runway looks like an insect that's probably my mistake i have a feeling he
25:51wasn't telling the truth jerk hello hi welcome to the runway as you know in fashion one day you're in
26:04and the next day you're out there are 12 of you here and after tonight there will be 11. this week you
26:13visited the la times where you were asked to use newspapers to create your look and these papers
26:21weren't just inspiration they were your actual fabrics and i really look forward to seeing your
26:27creativity hit the runway today all right let's meet the judges
26:31first we have american designer tommy hilfiger who has a new collection exclusive at macy's
26:40senior editor for mary claire magazine zoe glasner
26:45and star of the hit abc show desperate housewives eva longoria parker
26:54we will score your designs as they come down the runway one of you will be named the winner and one of
26:59you will be out let's start the show the more i looked at the dress the more i realized how much
27:10asian inspiration i got from it the coloring that i used ended up looking like bamboo leaves
27:17i feel confident
27:18my model looks great if i want to be experimental if i want to be daring i'm going to do it
27:26hopefully this garment will get me in the top three
27:32i'm never just designing to be safe i always want to be in the top
27:36i like to play with hard and soft and i think this is speaking to my design aesthetic
27:46it looks absolutely amazing
27:51it's sexy and fun and flirty and it feels like me
27:55i've never made anything out of paper before it was like arts and craft but at the same time you
28:07had to get your point across
28:13so i watched my design coming down the runway honestly i don't like it i don't think it's
28:17to any sort of up to par to my abilities i think the original dress would have got a better response
28:25i am proud of what i have created in this challenge
28:32i really think that i have made something out of nothing
28:40seeing my dress is really amazing
28:44my goal in this was to create a gown that looks like it's not made out of paper
28:50i see my model ebony walk down the runway and i'm just praying to god that the thing stays on her
29:01i'm pretty happy with it and the makeup looks awesome they put these like feathers in her eyelashes
29:05i am amazed and happy it's exactly what i wanted to be it's different than anything else
29:20i was breathless
29:25i really feel that even though this dress was made in paper it still really represents me as a designer
29:30i like to design intellectually i really try to make the body look good
29:39it was a really difficult challenge i'm a little worried about the dress because
29:43it wasn't as polished as i would have liked it i'm expecting i'm either going to be in the bottom or safe
29:49if i call your name please step forward johnny nicholas
30:06christopher
30:09althea jordana irena
30:15if i did not call your name congratulations your scores have qualified you to move on to the next
30:22challenge you can leave the runway
30:31the remaining designers have the highest and the lowest scores one of you will be named the winner
30:38and one of you will be out let's bring out your models
30:45athia tell us about your design i saw this image of a building and i thought well how cool if i could
30:56sort of layer them in a way that they were almost like fans and i tried to contour like her bum
31:04i love it this is a classic dress that i wear all the time and i always accentuate my bum
31:09uh because that's my asset i think it's pretty genius i thought the execution was well done
31:18considering what you had to work with because you have a lot of pieces i probably used about a hundred
31:23newspapers i think it's exquisite the sort of detail work that you've done the pattern if that
31:27wasn't paper i would totally want to wear it thank you jordana tell us about your look uh first of all
31:33i knew that we were using already unconventional fabrics so i wanted to create a conventional look
31:39i think the top is very architectural very cool i think the pattern's nice thank you i have to say
31:45when your garment came down the runway i was a little bit bored because it is so wearable and it is so
31:52real looking in a way i was understanding that we should make wearable something out on wearable fabrics
31:58so that's probably my mistake the only fault that you have in this competition was that everybody
32:05else's was so amazing there's a lot of creativity up there irina initially when i heard the newspaper
32:13challenge for some reason i thought trench coat i was blown away that was one of the moments when it
32:17came out and i and i was like oh you know and i love that you went against doing a dress i think it
32:23looks coco chanel meets saint laurent meets givanchi in the 60s and 70s i think that if you turn around
32:32i don't like seeing the scotch tape and it could be a little shorter i love the collar i love the
32:39sleeves and i like that you gave it this sort of volume this dimension it's something new thank you
32:44i love that you played with the paper and crinkled it up and mushed it all together i just literally tore
32:51tiny pieces of paper and i'd scrunch them up open them back up just really make it soft new alternative
32:57to fur newspaper yeah johnny what's going on here how much time did you spend on your dress
33:05i did two of them why what happened uh the first one i was ironing it and the steamer started to
33:11sputter it got water all over it and the whole thing was destroyed but i'm not making excuses i'm
33:16really not doesn't look like a lot of time was spent on this dress i also am not loving the way
33:21it is put together it looks like she's going to work with the red shoes and the hair and makeup like
33:29work like like work like a pro like work work oh that's fun i like the idea you had i feel like it
33:37wasn't executed as well the belt up there is it should be at the waist or it should be an empire i'm not a
33:43fan of the pointy thing this up here yeah but i like classic dresses i kind of was digging the whole
33:50pop art print the hair was a little 80s the shoe was a little 80s i felt like you were trying to
33:54take us somewhere and you know i was going there with you thank you if i could talk like say but the
34:00other dress was was pretty was hardcore i have to admit it had it was very like that dior kind of
34:06draping around and wrapping back up look how come you're shaking it i'm like is there more to the
34:11story that you want to tell us uh it was not dior what it was a red mess it was a red thanks that's
34:18sweet one of tim's comments was that the birds attacked the dress thanks nicholas that's really
34:23nice throw me right into the bus jerk nicholas so um when i started cutting out the newspaper
34:32it's just sort of reminded me when i first moved to new york and i used to hang out in the east village a
34:36lot with all the punk kids so i kind of wanted to go back to that time and sort of create a little punk
34:41crock look i think that doesn't look like the punk thing i wrote looks like an insect you know
34:49she's got the sort of like little the shell casings which is also very new york right the cockroaches
34:57last but not least christopher my first thought that came to my head was
35:02it has to be a showstopper and so what i did is i created this kind of this the feather look that goes
35:07down here and i also wanted to retain the newsprint i love the black and white i love the big full skirt
35:14how did you do the top it looks kind of hard yes it's like a shell and what did you do it's um
35:20like a pattern board or like pattern paper really rigid i love that it's like armor i love that you
35:27gave it a little detail in the hair i love her hair soft like guinevere it really looks like art i mean
35:31it's really beautiful i too love the top i think it was very very creative nothing on the runway was
35:37like it it just swayed down the runway and it did not look like newspaper if you squint your eyes it
35:43looks like feathers it's uh sexy i think it's glamorous it's a wow thank you so much okay we've heard what
35:52you had to say we're gonna have a little chat and then i'm gonna call you back you can leave the runway
35:57thank you thank you so let's talk about the designers that we liked christopher i just thought
36:10it was so creative he and and that bodice i'd like to think of how to construct that i don't even know
36:16how to begin to do that with paper it was a risk where some of the others were just like strapless
36:21little shifts you know let's go to althea that was also a beautiful dress it had some structure
36:28i love the architecture of it i mean it really accentuated the bottom it accentuated the bosom
36:33i i thought it was just well crafted she made a print within a print and had a whole storyline
36:39behind it it was very cool and then arena oh yeah it was so well done it was like like couture
36:50she had these little trompe luis stitches that she made with sharpie and she had belt loops which
36:53i thought was very very clever it was dramatic without being gimmicky
36:59let's talk about those designers with the lower scores
37:03i have mixed feelings with jordana it wasn't made badly i just thought as a whole it was
37:09a bit boring not as exciting as the other two you know it was safe
37:12all right let's go to nicholas i didn't like this one at all i didn't get the punk thing i didn't get
37:22the inspiration and then it wasn't well done it was just tacky punk should have been something so
37:28different all right let's move on to johnny it felt like a save it ended up it actually was a save the
37:36print was cool but then looking at the dress and looking at the construction it was a big letdown
37:42i have a feeling he wasn't completely telling the truth how bad can it spit the steam too
37:48tommy doesn't iron honey he doesn't actually he'll get it together
37:53so we've made our decision okay let's bring them back out
38:08one of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out
38:13one of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out
38:27i'll see ya you're in you can leave the runway thank you
38:31are we now you are the winner of this challenge thank you it's an honor thank you congratulations
38:49your originality and your risk taking really paid off this time thank you you also will have
38:55immunity for the next challenge and cannot be eliminated you can leave the runway thank you
39:01it feels good i finally won i mean it's it's past due i feel like
39:12christopher you're in you can leave the runway thank you very much
39:16jordana you're in you can leave the runway thank you very much
39:31thank you very much
39:42nicholas johnny one of you will be out
39:50nicholas we saw where you were trying to go but you really didn't get there it was all too arts and
39:58crafty johnny you gave us a lot of excuses today but as always we can only judge on what we see
40:08your dress was not well made and it was just a mess overall
40:17nicholas
40:18you're in thank you you can leave the runway
40:30that means johnny you're out thank you very much i had a wonderful opportunity thank you thank you
40:37thank you very much
40:46right now i feel a little lost i feel a little
40:50empty again i guess is the best word to say it
40:53giving up addiction was probably easier to do than this
40:56i don't think people realize how hard and emotionally taxing this competition is
41:01i just really wanted to go to bryant park but i guess that means there's something bigger on
41:06the horizon for me so i can i can deal with that
41:10how is everybody i have to send you to the work room to clean up your space
41:15i know you take care you guys later bye johnny bye guys you guys rock be careful
41:22i'm incredulous of that utterly preposterous feeling of fiction that johnny did on the runway
41:29i seriously i snapped i'm sorry i couldn't take it anymore it was ridiculous like what was that yeah
41:35i'm at peace right now with with the whole situation you can't dwell on the past you definitely
41:39can't sit there and wallow in it i'm not going to stop being a designer just because of this in fact
41:43i'm probably going to grow from this as a designer it's not the end of johnny sackless there's still
41:47more to come next week on project runway we are in los angeles it's about time to see what this town
41:54is known for what the hell's going on here it's a one-day challenge which is crazy
42:01oh my god i am pretty panicked because my dress is not completed at all i'm going to be in the bottom
42:07three this could be sublime or it could be a big hot mess this is looking kermit the frog gone wrong
42:16i really don't like the dress it's too safe it's not special enough it's just hard to see that you can
42:22actually sew in this outfit
42:52see you
