00:00Hey Faith, how's everything going?
00:01Good, I got about an hour left on my shift and then I get to go home.
00:03Yeah, so a couple people called out today and we were just wondering if you'd be willing to close.
00:07Well, I don't really have anything to do later, so yeah, that's fine.
00:10And I have the day off tomorrow, so...
00:11Sure.
00:11Hello?
00:12Hey Faith, it's your manager. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind coming in today.
00:15Oh, um, well I closed yesterday and today's my only day off.
00:19Um, but I need the money and I don't really have anything else to do, so yeah, sure, what time do you need me in?
00:23Well, we can work with you. What time would you like to come in?
00:25Um, we kind of just need somebody to close.
00:26Oh, okay, since I kind of did a double yesterday, is it okay if I just come in on a four and do a four to ten?
00:31Um, yeah, that should work.
00:32Hey manager, it's four o'clock and I went ahead and closed my till. Um, am I good to go? Do you need anything else for me?
00:36Oh, shoot, I should have grabbed you before you closed your till.
00:39We were wondering if you were willing to close again. I know you came in at opening, but a couple people called out again and we had nobody.
00:44Well, I was totally fine on coming on my day off yesterday and closing the day before, but today's actually my best friend's birthday, so we already have plans.
00:50Okay, are you sure you can't stay? Because seriously, we're gonna be really tight tonight.
00:54Yeah, like I said, I've had these plans set for months and my best friend's birthday is really important to me, so I really can't stay tonight.
01:00All right.
01:01Faith, can you step into my office real quick?
01:02Sure, absolutely.
01:03Hey, so I was wondering, why couldn't you stay last night to close?
01:06Well, the day before, I came in on my day off and closed, and the day before that, I had stayed from opening to closing, so it was a lot.
01:12But on top of that, I didn't have anything going on those past two days, but yesterday was my best friend's birthday and we've had it planned for months, so that's why I didn't stay.
01:19Okay, I'm talking to you about this because it looks really bad on your part that you didn't stay with us, and we just want to make sure that you're a team player.
01:26So let me get this straight, because I couldn't come in last night.
01:29The time that I came in on my day off and the time that I went from open to closed doesn't matter anymore?
01:34No, but when you are available, you really should be trying to take more hours because, again, it looks good on you, it looks good on the company, and it just shows good teamwork.
01:40Exactly when I'm available.
01:42Coming in on my day off and working from opening to closing burnt me out a lot, and my health is way more important.
01:47Well, I work opening to closing shifts all the time, and it's no big deal for me.
01:51Not like this is about money, but you're a manager, and so you get paid to do that.
01:55I don't. I get paid minimum wage.
01:56I'm not being rude or disrespectful at all, but if this is going to become an issue where you guys are always asking me,
02:01and then I get reprimanded when I actually have things planned, I will no longer be answering the phones on my day off.
02:06I will no longer be coming in on my day off.
