Do you think 16 and 17-year-olds should be allowed to vote in general elections, or should the voting age stay as it is?
Transcript
00:00It's not a good idea, just because, like, when I was 16, if I was able to vote,
00:04and, like, you see other 16-year-olds being like,
00:07like, I do not trust them voting.
00:09When I was 16, I didn't have a clue, and you shouldn't have a clue at 16.
00:13At 16, you should be 16, and you should be enjoying being 16.
00:16You should not be getting too embroiled in those sorts of things.
00:19So I think, no, leave it where it is, and let young people be young people for a bit longer.
00:24I don't mind whoever votes.
00:25I think everyone has the opportunity to decide what their future's going to be,
00:29and if you're 16 or 17-year-olds want to vote, then that's a good thing,
00:32because it's their future that they're voting for.
00:34It would be fair to have the vote, like, to vote over the 18,
00:41because you need to have a mature, you need to be mature to vote for anything you want.
00:47When you first left school at 16, you're still living at home.
00:51Half the time, you haven't really got sorted out with a job.
00:53You don't know what the real world's like.
00:54I suppose you need to get to about 18, really,
00:57before you're starting to actually understand what it's about.
