The government is expected to announce this summer whether children under 16 should face new social media restrictions following a major national consultation on online safety. Do you think a social media ban should be implemented for young people?

00:00Yeah, I think it's a good idea. It's hard to police, it's hard to enforce, but even like the lowest
00:04effort enforcement will have some effect.
00:07There's a lot of people who aren't bothered enough to get onto social media, and I do think it is
00:11addictive.
00:12It's not a positive thing for a lot of children, and it should be limited.
00:15There's too many kids on this social media that are getting targeted by people that they don't know.
00:24If you're 16, you should have Gmail. You shouldn't have social media, because Gmail has the necessities.
00:34You can answer your emails. If you want, email your friends, because it actually keeps it niche.
00:39Email your friends and email your teachers. But social media creates a toxicity.
00:44You shouldn't have that as a kid. You should go outside and live your life.
00:47We're all spending far too much time on our phones. Children are not being allowed to be children.
00:54We say that a lot. Sometimes we might say it too much, but yeah.
01:00But it's a very, very good idea. I thoroughly support it.
01:04But the reason why kids want the phones, it's peer pressure.
01:10It's simply that, and it's keeping up with the friends.
01:13So if the friends have got one, they're going to feel the odd one out.
01:17When I was growing up, they didn't have none of that.
01:19You went out and kicked some football or played tennis.
01:21That's what they should be doing.
01:24Instead of going home and just doing that.
01:29Nah.
01:29Nah.
01:29Nah.
