00:00Boosting the immune system for HIV patients is crucial during the treatment phase.
00:05However, some HIV patients have encountered difficulties in boosting their immune systems.
00:11This caught the attention of Dr. Didi Kandra Kusuma,
00:14who then conducted dissertation research on the causes of HIV patients' immune system failure.
00:20This research was part of his doctoral program at the Faculty of Medicine,
00:24Brawajaya University, UB, and aimed to advance medical science.
00:30Despite his busy schedule, Dr. Didi Kandra Kusuma focused on researching the causes of HIV patients' immune system failure during treatment.
00:41This piqued Didi's interest in understanding the cause, hoping to find a solution.
00:47Interviewed after his dissertation defense, Dr. Didi expressed his gratitude for completing the research to earn his doctorate and contributing to the advancement of medicine.
00:57His goal was to study HIV patients.
01:00Although they have received the correct treatment and the right approach,
01:04there are several conditions that prevent them from improving their immunity, or the quality of their immunity.
01:12We want to know what factors prevent some of these patients from returning to normal health.
01:16That's why we're looking for those factors.
01:20One way is through this research.
01:22So, the presence of parasites or dysbiosis is called that.
01:25It's called an imbalance between the microbiota and the digestive tract.
01:34That can cause, e.e., the immune system to not develop properly.
01:38Of course, it's possible because we treat people not just with a program, but with a holistic approach.
01:50In other words, the patient's quality of life must truly be prioritized.
01:54It's not just about taking medication, but also how to restore their quality of life to a normal person.
02:03The research results also received appreciation from its promoter, Professor Luki Angar Fitri.
02:10According to Luki, Dr. Didi's research is very interesting and can also be a new discovery in advancing the world of medicine in Indonesia.
02:17Dr. Didi Kandra in Kusuma, now Dr. Dr. Didi Kandra, SPPD-KTI, is one of my supervisors, e.e., who is conducting an open exam today.
02:30Yes, thank God, Dr. Didi was able to complete his studies amidst his busy schedule as a clinician.
02:38Therefore, his studies were a bit delayed, e.e., they were long, but he was able to complete them and produce research that, e.e., I thought was extraordinary and impactful.
02:47So, the core of this dissertation is to understand the patho-mechanisms of HIV.
03:02Sometimes, HIV-positive pastors who are given therapy don't show an increase in CD4 or CD4 cells, which is a marker for clinical improvement.
03:10Here, we're also looking at whether there's a difference in the immune response between untreated and treated patients, especially in the regulatory immune response.
03:25Then, are there also differences in the presence of opportunistic parasites?
03:37And I think this dissertation has some unexpected findings.
03:40For example, the most common opportunistic parasite found, and the only intestinal parasite found, is B-hominus.
03:53This will also open up opportunities for us to provide updates or improvements to our learning materials and our services to HIV patients.
04:00Yeah.
04:02Yeah.
