00:00you may have seen that we've invested in this ice bath that travels to as close as possible to the
00:16finish line because there's massive evidence now that after a long hard brutal stage in these sort
00:22of hot conditions getting into ice as soon as possible after the finish is really really
00:28important for recovery there's really good evidence that it helps to reduce the swelling in the muscles
00:34it helps to reduce the what they call doms you know delayed onset muscle soreness that they get
00:39from doing these long hard stages and obviously as we know in the tour de france they have to go
00:43again the same thing tomorrow so they have to recover as much as possible and also it helps
00:47them to sort of settle down ready for sleep and sleep is the most important part of recovery
00:51so it all sort of fits together
00:53some riders love this and they've used it for years and years at home some riders it's quite
00:59new so we would never ever force a rider to go in because you know this can be this could be 12
01:04degrees the water it can be cold
01:06um today is 15 degrees so it's not it's very cold but it's not as good as uh as most days most days we
01:19would go even cooler i can stay for 10 minutes in total uh normally we would go down to maybe 12 or 13
01:29degrees and stay only maybe six or seven minutes
01:32so we have a range of temperatures that we use at a range of time limit we actually look at lots of
01:40things we look at the weight of the rider we look at the fat mass of the rider because obviously
01:45they're going to cool down in different speeds and things
01:47but definitely the evidence says the quicker you get in the better
