00:10The centre opened in 2012 to help keep heritage crafts alive.
00:16We try to help the trainees and the best way is to teach them the methodology and get them
00:20to memorise it.
00:22This approach makes them become productive quickly.
00:25This is done under constant supervision and follow-up.
00:29During this stage we correct mistakes, which makes understanding easier.
00:33And luckily the trainees cooperate collectively and correct each other's mistakes.
00:38And that's the right approach.
00:40The centre offers courses in 12 crafts, including wood carving and leather work.
00:46Aya Arak is learning carpentry.
00:50Carpentry isn't easy, especially in the carving stage, which requires strength and patience.
00:56It can't be learned on the first try.
00:58It's necessary to make mistakes in the early stages.
01:02In the carpentry division, thanks to Mr. Abdel Ali, I learned patience and precision.
01:08I chose this craft specifically because it's considered a male domain.
01:12But I want to prove that Moroccan women can learn anything if they set their mind to it.
01:17Each year, the centre welcomes 500 new trainees and women are encouraged to participate.
01:25At the end of the course, staff help the young artisans set up small projects or join existing cooperatives.
01:32After the training period, I want to continue creating many things and applying new ideas.
01:39I hope these ideas reach the youth and that I get the opportunity to train other young people who may like what we offer.
