00:00Morocco has launched a third edition of its Moroccan Andercraft Treasures Programme,
00:04a national initiative aimed at safeguarding traditional crafts, threatened with extension.
00:10The ceremony took place Tuesday in Rabat under the high patronage of King Mohamed VI
00:15and was organized by the Secretariat of State in charge of traditional andercraft and the social and solidarity economy.
00:24We are very proud of this partnership with UNESCO.
00:26Thank God we have been able to safeguard more than 32 crafts recognized as being at risk of disappearing.
00:34There were only four master artisans who still practiced them.
00:39Through this training program, we will prepare more than 350 new instructors in all these crafts.
00:47Director of the UNESCO office in the Maghreb Arab region emphasized the importance of preserving manual techniques.
00:56Participants were shown, for example, that a saddle cannot function without leather.
01:04Leather is worked entirely by hand.
01:07We thank the ministry for this enormous effort, which relies on techniques that are at risk of disappearing.
01:13Through this initiative, Morocco continues to assert its commitment to protecting its rich cultural heritage
01:22while empowering youth to carry ancestral craftsmanship into the future.
