00:00Hey, this is People in 10. Our fan of the week goes to none other than Princess Charlotte at
00:08Wimbledon. But we aren't talking about her love for tennis. Did you catch how she was adorably
00:13cooling off her mom with a literal fan? Temps soared that day to 81 degrees in England,
00:18so this was much needed. As far as the other type of fan, Princess Kate had a few of her
00:23own at the tournament. While she took to the court to hand out awards for the winner and
00:27runner-up of the men's final, a bowl fan shouted, I love you, Kate, from the stands,
00:31which made her chuckle. Wonder if Prince William thought it was funny too.
00:37And is it too good to be true? Or could these really be the first steps of reconciliation
00:41between King Charles and Prince Harry? Top aides for each of them recently met in London. And even
00:46that is huge because this dialogue has not been happening in the recent past. So it has royal
00:51insiders optimistic that their rift could actually be healed. Hey, it's always better to be talking
00:56than not talking, right? We don't want to get too ahead of ourselves. But Harry did already invite
01:01his dad and his brother Prince William to the Invictus Games in the UK next year. Could be the
01:07perfect venue to reopen those lines of communication. One half of a home reno power couple is clapping
01:14back at critics of their new show. Going back to the frontier is going to be life-changing.
01:19Why all the heat? And how is Chip Gaines pushing back? Let's find out.
01:25Hey, Mako, what's up? Hey, Alex. Okay, so Chip and Joanna have this new show. They're executive
01:29producers on it. It looks really cute. So why is there a controversy?
01:33So the new show is called Back to the Frontier. And the premise is it's this reality style show
01:38that transports three families back to sort of what it would be like to live off the land if they
01:43were 19th century Western pioneers. One of the families featured on the show is a same-sex couple
01:49with twin sons. And not everybody is happy about that. And why not? What are the haters saying?
01:54So Billy Graham's grandson, Franklin Graham, tweeted that basically criticizes the show's
01:59inclusivity. And I'll paraphrase for you. His tweet basically said that God's design for marriage is
02:05between a man and a woman. And the fact that this show promotes something other than that is a sin.
02:10It is so ridiculous. And how did Chip respond to all of this?
02:14He's, of course, supporting the show, supporting the couple. And he was criticizing the critics.
02:18He was saying, I'm urging the Christians to listen, to learn, to ask questions. He thinks the
02:24whole thing's pretty sad. I wholeheartedly agree with him. Has the couple spoken out?
02:29The couple has spoken out. One of the men in the couple, Jason Hanna,
02:32is just driving home this point that inclusivity matters, representation matters.
02:36It sure does. We need more love in this world. Well, I'll definitely be tuning in now.
02:42Thank you for the info, Alex. I'll talk to you later.
02:44Sounds good. Talk to you later.
02:45Bye.
02:47Can you believe this one? Justin and Hayley are living
02:50la bella vita together after all those rumors of drama between them. They set sail in a romantic
02:55boat ride in Italy, then headed further inland to enjoy the European countryside. All to celebrate
03:01the release of Justin's first solo album in over four years. And we're hearing from a source that he did
03:05it on his terms with Hayley's support. The insider even says she was by Justin's side for the whole
03:11creation of the album and helped him trust himself so he could do what he wanted to do as an artist.
03:16That's amore. We've all heard the phrase beauty is pain, but Suki Waterhouse learned the hard way
03:23it's not worth it. Sure, tight pants might look cool, but they come with a price. A steep one.
03:29Side effects so bad, they can land you in the hospital. So fans noticed Suki hadn't been tweeting
03:34lately and asked her what was up. Then she dropped a bombshell. Turns out she'd worn pants so
03:39incredibly tight, it caused a hernia. She admitted she was scared to reveal that publicly.
03:45But let this be a warning, y'all. So none of us have to go through what she did. Yikes.
03:51Big week for TV fans. The 2025 Emmy nominations are officially here.
03:56Don't you dare judge me.
03:57The White Lotus, The Bear, and The Pit all nab noms, but Severance leads the path with 27.
04:03See you at the equator.
04:05The Penguin follows with 24, then The Studio with 23. It's now the most nominated freshman
04:10comedy in Emmy's history, beating the record previously held by Ted Lasso. And these stars
04:15had a busy year. They all received multiple nods in more than one category.
04:20I have been waiting for this moment.
04:21You all should be so proud, like Dax Shepard is for Kristen Bell here.
04:24All this, plus Nate Bargetti is hosting, yeah, it's gonna be a good night.
04:31Now to the movies.
04:32Gird your loins. Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, BJ Novak, and Pauline Chalamet will soon learn
04:38the true importance of Cerulean as the newest cast members of The Devil Wears Prada 2.
04:42The newbies are set to join runway OGs Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, and Meryl Streep.
04:48I just hope this new take doesn't ruin the original. And no, that wasn't a question.
04:52And you have no style or sense of fashion.
04:56Practical Magic 2 is also brewing with Diane Weiss and Stocker Channing officially rejoining
05:01the coven with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. Can't wait for that. But unfortunately,
05:06Evan Rachel Wood says that she wasn't asked back.
05:09I can't wait to fall in love.
05:11Hopefully, we will with the sequel.
05:15It was home runs all around at the All-Star Game. But I'm not talking about on the field,
05:19where the National League scored an unprecedented win. No, these guys were all winners with their
05:25fashion. Jazz Chisholm Jr. kept his red carpet look classy, while Bobby Wood Jr. and Ellie De La
05:30Cruz were feeling their custom jackets. Aaron Judge rubbed the pinstripes well, and Tarek Skubal
05:35opted for something a bit more understated. Shohei Otani surprised fans with the rare appearance
05:40from his wife. And Paul Skeens was ever the gentleman, as he helped girlfriend Livvy Dunn
05:45retie her shoe. Love the fits, guys. Knocked it out the park.
05:50Not gonna lie, this next one has me spooked. So y'all remember the Annabelle doll from The
05:55Conjuring Universe? The one that, legend has it, is cursed? Well, some people are convinced
06:01she struck again. Paranormal investigator Dan Rivera died suddenly this week at the age
06:05of 54. And here's the chilling part. He was on tour with the supposedly possessed doll
06:10when he died. His cause of death hasn't been publicly disclosed. But police in Pennsylvania
06:15say nothing suspicious was observed at the scene. So now, people are straight up blaming
06:19Annabelle for it. Which might seem far-fetched, but let's just say, this girl's got a track
06:24record. Take when she was in Louisiana back in May. Ten inmates broke out of a New Orleans
06:29jail at the time. And a fire destroyed the Knottaway plantation. The internet pretty much
06:34blamed the doll for all of it. And now they're wondering, maybe her work isn't done.
06:39Now it's a sit down with Bessie Carter. Hello, Bessie. Outrageous, the historical miniseries
06:45about the Midford sisters is streaming now on BritBox. You said you knew a lot about your
06:49character going into this project. But what about her story made it a must to share with
06:53the world? They're such an interesting family. I mean, the fact that they were, I guess,
06:58one family is mainly the thing that blew my mind. I was like, how, how did they all end
07:04up so different when they were all raised under the same roof? And I suppose with Nancy, I
07:09just loved the fact that, you know, she's an amazing writer. Most people know her from
07:13The Pursuit of Love. I do just think she's truly one of the greats. That's why I think
07:17reminding the audience of who she is felt really important.
07:21What do you make of the timing of the series with what's going on in the world right now?
07:25Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think it's a really interesting conversation point, actually.
07:28They all come from one family. And yet they were women who were living in a culture and
07:33in a society and in a time where they were rarely allowed to be educated. They were rarely allowed
07:40to have a proper profession. They were only valued if they were marriable. And they couldn't be
07:46financially independent, really. And they didn't want to just get married and have children.
07:51And they were screaming and they were not being listened to. And so they went to the places where
07:56they were listened to. And those places ended up being pretty extreme places. For me, it's sort of
08:02symbolic of, you know, the greater world right now that we live in. There are so many disillusioned
08:08people who are not feeling heard and not feeling represented. And so if we don't give them a voice,
08:15a place where they feel safe and listened to, education, like, I mean, all of the, going back
08:20to like bare human rights, they will go to places where they feel valued. So that's, I think, what
08:25the relevance is.
08:25I wondered if you'd like to come with, there too, Germany.
08:29On a lie to know, do you think Nancy Mutford and Prudence Featherington would get along?
08:34I never thought about that. I think Prudence would be like dumbstruck by Nancy, like genuinely,
08:40like listening to her speak, just be like. I think she would try to like throw in a witty comment and
08:47it would just be like beaten down because Nancy's so quick and so sort of, that is quite funny. I would
08:53like to see them in a room together. I think they would just be like chalk and cheese.
08:59It is fatiguing preparing to be lady of this house.
09:02Which love interest on Bridgerton do you think Nancy would be the most interested in?
09:06Oh my God. Well, she has a tendency to fall for the idiots. You know what I mean? Like the F boys.
09:14I don't know if I'm allowed to swear, but like she has a tendency to go towards that. The beautiful
09:19thing about all of the boys in Bridgerton is that they all start out by being kind of like caddish
09:24and naughty and then they've actually find that. So probably Johnny's character. I don't know, like
09:29probably him and Nancy would kind of train him to be a husband because he didn't want to settle down,
09:35did he? I don't know if she could probably go for all of them. All of them. I'll take all of them.
09:40We are huge fans of your parents work too. Do you watch each other's work? Have they watched Outrageous
09:45yet? Well, yes and no. I mean, I watched the first couple of series of Downton and I think
09:51I sort of slipped off it. And then I obviously watched The Crown because that was quite a big
09:55deal. I had a secret viewing party with the two of them. I was sent the first two episodes and I
10:02did invite them around because I've got a stupidly big television and that was really cool. And they
10:07binged the whole thing very sweetly. They were very, very, very proud. They've never seen me
10:12in something that bit, you know, I haven't played a role that big before and they were just like,
10:16yeah, yeah, it's great. So that felt, that felt really nice. So if you bring a partner home to
10:21meet the parents, what's the pep talk in the car like before they come in? I could never disappoint
10:26Jim Carter. I wouldn't hear of it. I actually never thought about that. I mean, most of my friends
10:33are so over it in the nicest way, as in they're just my parents to them, which is really nice. I mean,
10:40if you've got a cracking sense of humor, you're going to be fine. You know, they've got a cracking
10:44sense of humor. Humor is one of the most important things to me in any kind of relationship. And so
10:52yeah, if you can crack a joke, you'll be absolutely fine.
10:56Okay. We're going to put 10 seconds on the clock. Tell everyone why they should check out
11:00Outrageous streaming now on BritBox. Ready? Go.
11:03It's punky. It's energetic. It's got six women at the lead. It's got amazing music and it's
11:08all a true story. And if you don't know about The Lit Fist, tune in and you will find out everything
11:11you can. Bessie, thank you so much for dropping by. Cheerio. Thank you so much.
