Everton’s goals ahead of the new campaign

A look at what Everton will be aiming for this season coming up.

00:00Just on Everton, in terms of the drawing board this summer and where they're looking ahead

00:05of this new area, the stadium move as well, it seems like there's so much they have to

00:09get right off the pitch, but then it all comes down to the results when the season gets up

00:15and running. It's obviously quite a tough balancing act, but what's the goals for Everton?

00:20We've mentioned before, it's not all going to happen overnight. They need to bed in and

00:24take some time in this new stadium. Where can you see Everton going this season?

00:30I think an improvement on 13th. Look, David Moyes has made it clear he wants to get Everton

00:34back challenging for Europe during his time as manager. It's his first full season. Maybe

00:39you've just got to temper that a little bit and think, what can we build on towards maybe

00:43then the next season as well? Obviously, Everton moving stadiums to the new Hill Dickinson Stadium,

00:49that might take a little bit of time to adapt. As we've just been discussing, if more of Everton's

00:56signs arrive later, then they're going to take a little bit of time to bed in and maybe

01:02results might pick up towards the second half of the season. Finish 13th last season. I think

01:10if Everton were finishing the top 10, then I think it's tangible progress, isn't it? There's

01:19some good teams who finished in the top 10 last season, so you should be moving ahead of some

01:24real good sides. It's going to be, again, cliche, it's going to be difficult again this season.

01:30You know, the mid-table teams, the likes of Bournemouth and Brighton are always up there

01:36and Aston Villa, and it's, you know, a Man United is going to be better than they were last season.

01:42He can't be any worse, surely. Tottenham with Thomas Frank, you'd expect those to improve.

01:48So I think David Moyes, although he has big ambitions for Everton, rightly so, because he's got

01:55Everton challenging for Europe on a tight budget during his first spell, he'll think he can do

02:01that again. Done it at West Ham as well, got them challenging for Europe and subsequently winning

02:07a European trophy, but he'll know as well that they can't afford to try to move too fast because

02:12that could have a negative effect. I mean, look what happened to West Ham after he left last summer.

02:17When they tried to do that, spent a fair bit of money, so he'll be pragmatic if Everton

02:24can finish in the top 10. Can he have a good go at winning a trophy, the FA Cup or a Carabao Cup?

02:32Because I think there's potentially, is there eight or nine, I can't think, eight or nine

02:38teams playing in Europe next season? Certainly a lot anyway, like Crystal Palace and Nottingham

02:44Forest are going to be in Europe, so maybe that's going to be a bit of a priority for

02:48them. So is that an opportunity for Everton in the Cup competitions? They should be looking

02:54at that way, I think. So to say top 10 finish can be a challenge for the silverware, because

03:01Newcastle and Crystal Palace winning trophies last season shows that it can be done, it's not

03:05just the top teams who win them.
