00:00With a 20th Congress to officially open session in two weeks,

00:04the impeachment trial of the sitting Vice President has drawn the Supreme Court in between

00:08and a need to issue a ruling on how the case should proceed, if at all.

00:13Still, House Solans, especially those in the prosecution panel, feel confident

00:17their petitions will be heard and acted upon favorably.

00:32believe the Supreme Court, or SC, will side with the House of Representatives

00:36regarding the petitions related to the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

00:42Last week, the SC issued a resolution directing the House to submit additional sworn information on this.

00:49According to Rep. Chua, who is also part of the House Prosecution Panel,

00:54they will comply with the court's order.

00:57He also reiterated that all the steps they have taken are in accordance with the Constitution.

01:01Ito po mga hinihingi naman po ay maikokomplay naman po namin sa House.

01:08Hindi lamang po ang House pati po ang Senado ay hinihingi rin po ng compliance.

01:13At makakaasa po kayo na hindi ito makakaapekto sa kung ano man po ang nakabinbin na impeachment complaint dito.

01:25The lawmakers further said the SC should decide on the petitions at the soonest time possible.

01:32This, they said, is to prevent any obstacles and to allow the trial to proceed smoothly.

01:37However, even without a ruling from the High Court yet,

01:40the lawmakers emphasized that the trial can and must still push through.

01:44Wala pong dahilan para antayin ng Senado kung ano po ang magiging desisyon ng Court de Suprema

01:52dahil wala naman pong TRO na nilalabas.

01:57Nagsasalita ko kami kasi bilang mga kinatawan pero nagsasalita din kami bilang mga abogado.

02:02So, ibig sabihin kung ano po yung pasya ng Court de Suprema sa usapin po na ito,

02:06siyempre gagalangin naman po natin.

02:07But again, they should not serve as a reason for the Senate Impeachment Court

02:13to further delay proceedings and not act on their constitutional mandate,

02:18which is to try and decide the impeachment case of Vice President Sarah Duterte

02:24in the soonest possible time.

02:26Meanwhile, in case the SC does not side with the House,

02:30Chua said they will not give up and will consider what other legal remedies they can pursue.
