00:00Several lawmakers maintain that the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte

00:05underwent the proper process, thorough study, and was not rushed.

00:09This comes after Vice President Duterte's plea before the Supreme Court to halt the

00:14proceedings of the impeachment complaint filed against her.

00:22Some House leaders have dismissed Vice President Sara Duterte's petition before the Supreme

00:27Court seeking to stop her looming impeachment, calling it a desperate move.

00:31Yesterday, the Vice President filed a petition for certiorari and prohibition with urgent

00:36application for temporary restraining order.

00:39According to House Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Don Gonzalez, Jr., the Constitution is clear

00:44impeachment is the sole prerogative of Congress.

00:48It seems the Duterte camp is now getting afraid, that's why they are allegedly resorting to

00:52desperate action to evade accountability.

00:55House Deputy Speaker David J.J. Suarez added they will not be deterred by legal theatrics.

01:01Meanwhile for other lawmakers, it's her right na gusto niya patigil but it's a constitutional

01:07mandate na yung impeachment dapat sagutin din yun and mag convene na yung Senate.

01:13For its part, the House Prosecution Panel has asserted that the impeachment complaint

01:17against VP Sara went through the proper procedure, was thoroughly studied, and was not rushed.

01:23This came after a group also filed a petition before the SC questioning the legality of

01:28the impeachment.

01:29Ito pong mga inilatag naming seven articles of impeachment in the impeachment complaint.

01:36I wish to submit ay napag-aralang mabuti, napag-isipan, at nabalansi ang mga ebidensang

01:46pwedeng gamitin, kaugnay ng impeachment process na ito.

01:52For now, the Supreme Court has also asked the Senate to comment on a separate petition

01:56urging them to immediately begin the impeachment trial against the Vice President.
