00:00To good governance, watchdogs, militant groups, and anti-corruption proponents in the legislature,
00:06the Supreme Court's ruling to quash an impeachment trial on the Vice President and corruption issues is by no means a done deal.
00:13Two considerations are in their wish list as per suggestion of an ex-Supreme Court Chief Justice,
00:18an issuance of a status quo anti-order and oral arguments thereafter.
00:23Armella Lasmoras sheds light on the legalese and more on this report.
00:27Several lawmakers support the call of certain groups for the Supreme Court to issue a status quo anti-order
00:35and conduct oral arguments regarding the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.
00:41Under a status quo anti-order, the court would restore the previous situation before the articles of impeachment were declared unconstitutional.
00:49While through oral arguments, both parties would have the opportunity to discuss and explain their sides before the court renders a decision.
00:57Well, we've always wanted that to happen. We were a kind of, I personally, personally, I was kind of expecting it
01:26na yung lahat ng ginawa natin ay in compliance with the Constitution at yung sarili nating households.
01:31As of now, the public is waiting to see the next steps of the Senate impeachment court regarding this matter.
01:36However, some lawmakers had this to say.
01:52I think the Senate is well within its power to make decisions accordingly.
01:57I respect the Senate for how it will proceed, but I don't think it will deter the House.
02:03We continue to spend by what we signed for and then the petition that we've submitted to the Senate.
02:10Earlier, the House of Representatives filed a motion for reconsideration before the Supreme Court.
02:15For her part, House Committee on Justice Chair Jerville Luistro, who's also part of the House prosecution team,
02:21is hoping the SC will resolve this with utmost care as it is a landmark case.
