‘Polavaram was intended for good of whole of Andhra Pradesh’: YS Sharmila on Polavaram project

Vijayawada (AP), July 12, 2025 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Congress President YS Sharmila believes that if the Polavaram project was executed on its intended time, it’d have solved a lot of problems for Andhra Pradesh farmers. Speaking to the media, she said, "Polavaram was intended for the good of whole of Andhra Pradesh. If Polavaram is executed at its originally intended time with a water storage capacity of 45 metres, it would solve a lot of problems for the farmers of the state. There is a lot of lethargy on the part of Chandrababu Naidu and the BJP government who is heading this nation. Because there is a lapse in fulfilling Polavaram project, Bhanakacherla might be a boon to the Rayalaseema . And as the Chief Minister is saying, if you are only using the excess water, then I think Andhra Pradesh should be permitted to have its way because the Rayalaseema farmers are actually drought hit and are reeling under drought for a very long time. But then of course there are water boats, there are Polavaram water authority and things like that. I'm sure everything will work together with different governments, different states to come to a reasonable solution because the people of Rama really need some help in the form of or in the form of Polavaram or Bhanakacherla "
