Especially people in border areas like Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Jodhpur are delighted with Centre’s decision. Villagers in Rajasthan’s Barmer, near India-Pak border, said the move could end the region’s drinking water crisis and transform agriculture. Farmer Sher Singh Sodha a resident, said the Indus River water could now be diverted to the arid region, boosting the agriculture. Hakam Singh, a villager expressed faith in the Modi government, recalling how Narmada water reached Barmer from afar.
