00:00annoying for your opponent. I followed this wisdom when I played Anatoly Karpov, and I did well.
00:08I succeeded in almost regularly changing the game to the character of the position that
00:17fit me better than Anatoly Karpov. Now, I failed to follow the same logic when I played Vladimir
00:27Kramnik. I don't think that in the year 2000, when I lost my title match against him in London, I was
00:34an inferior player. But in the match, I tried to play his game, and I failed to take myself away
00:43from the psychological trap, playing positions where Kramnik was much more comfortable. I think
00:52it's not that I couldn't play them. Actually, I won one game later on in this end game against
00:58Kramnik a year later. But during the match, when you deal with psychology, one player against another
01:04one, you have to be comfortable, and you have to make your opponent uncomfortable. And while you
01:10never know exactly what your opponent is comfortable or not, because in many cases, when you are talking
01:16about sort of amateur chess or a club level chess, your knowledge of your opponent is highly
01:24limited. But you know exactly who you are. And if you play the game that is not making you
01:32feel comfortable, if you don't enjoy it, if you don't feel that the game can unleash, you know,
01:40your creative potential, then you're already on the losing side. I hear questions about tips
01:52all the time. So what can we do to do to get better? So how can we learn this and that? And
01:59we'll see you next time.
02:00Bye.
