00:00That's helping white to fight for the control of the central squares.
00:03So I remember that I've been promoting this idea 3 saying this is the best way to
00:07fight for the center and creating stronger position the center and you can have a
00:11powerful attack. I also remember that in late 70s I was highly critical of
00:17Greenfield defense because for me you know playing d5 meant that after
00:21exchange coin d5 playing e4, knight c3, bc3, white had a pass pawn that should be
00:27promoted and I won quite a few nice games by winning. Winning with white though
00:32at the later stage I was a devoted Greenfield player and almost to the end
00:37of my career I played Greenfield and let me tell you that I've changed my views
00:44about about the strengths of white's position and about the chances to promote
00:49this deep one. And I have to say that while we're growing, one may say aging, we're
00:59changing our views. I remember that I watched was quite a surprise an old Yefim
01:06Geller, a great Soviet champion, grandmaster who started playing Kings Indian and he was
01:12one of the pioneers of Kings Indian late 40s early early 50s you know reviving the
01:18opening and always coming up with new ideas and then he switched the Kings to
01:24the Queen's Gambit. I couldn't believe why I was so but then I just realized that
01:29it's not just about the opening it's it's it's very important how you how you feel
01:34whether you feel comfortable and you always look for no certain positions that
01:38that could fit your your chess playing mood at a certain time and I also made few
01:48fluctuations as I said from e4 I went to d4 1977 then I moved gradually back to e4
01:55playing with Karpov and by
