New Delhi, July 8, 2025 (ANI): BRS leader K. Kavitha has urged the BJP-led central government to expedite the process of granting assent to the Telangana OBC 42% Reservation Bill, which has already been passed by both the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. She Said “Telangana OBC 42% Reservation Bill has been passed in the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. Now it is pending for assent from the President of India. We are here to demand from the BJP to pass it in the Union government and send it back to the state government and also include it in Schedule 9. This Bill is only for the local bodies... It has been almost 4 months since the Bill was passed from here and the local body elections have been announced, so there is a sense of urgency. We have come to Delhi to say that unless the Bill is passed, we will stop the rail on 17th of this month...”
00:00Jai Telangana, Jai Bharat, the Telangana OBC 42% Reservation Bill has been passed in the Telangana Legislative Assembly and Telangana Legislative Council.
00:11Now it is pending with the Honorable President of India and assent from Honorable President is awaited.
00:18So we are here to demand the Bharati Janata Party to pass the OBC Reservation Bill from the Union Government and send it back to the State Government and also to include it in Schedule 9.
00:29So the constitutional rights of OBCs of Telangana will be protected and this 42% Reservation Bill is only for the local bodies.
00:38So there is also another alternative format where Congress Government can tomorrow issue a Government Order according to Article 243D.
00:46It can directly give the reservation.
00:49So here now Congress Party is not giving a Government Order nor the BJP is giving the assent.
00:54It has been almost 4 months the bill has been passed from here.
00:57So and the local body elections have been announced.
01:00So that is why there is a sense of urgency and that is why we have come here to Delhi to say that unless you pass this bill, we are going to stop the rail on 17th of this month.
01:11You also spoke of Rahul Gandhi.
01:13How if you want he can get some pass?
01:16Just one phone call Mr. Rahul Gandhi can make it to his Chief Minister and interestingly enough his Chief Minister was also here today in Delhi.
01:25So one word to Mr. Revant Reddy can change the lives of 42% of OBCs in Telangana.
01:32But Rahul Gandhi is not serious.
01:34It shows in the way he is acting because he is flaunting the Telangana model across the nation.
01:39But he is not implementing it where he is in a position to implement it.
01:43You will always see him carrying a constitution with him.
01:46Yes.
01:47You can give him one more.
01:48I will give him one more because he should certainly go through Article 243D and make a call to his Chief Minister to make sure this 42% reservation is given in the local bodies.
01:59Yes, we are requesting the Honourable Prime Minister who himself is in OBC.
02:05Prime Minister, sir, kindly consider giving an assent to the bill which is pending with the Honourable President of India
02:12because two and a half crore of OBC will lose their opportunity to contest in the panchayat elections that are due any time in Telangana.
