K Kavitha demands 42 % quota for Backwards classes, slams Congress’ inaction on bill implementation

Hyderabad ( Telangana ), June 22, 2025 (ANI): Telangana Jagruthi president and BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha called out Congress’ ‘inaction’ over Backwards Class Bill implementation. He also reiterated her calls for 42 percent reservations for the backward classes. "The BC (Backwards Class) Bill has been passed in the Telangana Assembly and the Telangana Legislative Council. It is now with the President; however, Article 243 of the Constitution of India supports the idea that the state government can grant local body reservations. This Congress government is trying to dodge the issue by not providing the 42% reservation, which is within its control. We demand that the Telangana Congress government immediately grant 42% reservation and then proceed to the local body elections", she said in a statement.
