00:19The move is a further sign of the escalating trade tensions between the two countries,
00:23following recent concessions from Beijing on rare-earth exports.
00:27Earlier in the day, the US also sent letters to Etain producers to lift a restrictive licensing requirement on exports to China,
00:36a rule that had been imposed in late May and June.
00:40The restrictions had been in response to China's export suspension of rare-earths and related magnets in April.
00:47Last week, China's Commerce Ministry confirmed that both sides had agreed on a new framework.
00:53Under this arrangement, China will review export applications for control items,
00:58while the US will lift corresponding trade restrictions.
