Soldier Surprises Wife At Ultrasound Of First Baby

A pregnant military wife was left stunned when her airman husband returned home for the ultrasound of their first child. Nadrena Jordan, 24, from Dallas, Texas, found out she was pregnant shortly after husband Richard's basic training graduation for the United States Air Force. As Richard, 24, had freshly graduated, he then needed to head off to AIT training, which he would not be allowed to leave for a few months. The separation was extremely tough, as although she could talk to Richard over the phone – unlike in basic training – she wanted him by her side for what would be the journey of their first child together. This anxiety was added to by the fact that Nadrena had suffered seven miscarriages in the past, and so Richard tried his best to comfort his wife from afar, while he was based in Wichita Falls, Texas. Desperate to be there in person, Richard asked his superiors what he could do at tech school to be granted any sort of leave, such as getting ahead in his advanced training. Having been granted permission to travel for one day to be there for the first ultrasound, Richard liaised with Nadrena's mom and best friend, only to come across another series of obstacles. On the day, with no car of his own on base, he walked over a mile to get to the gate, where, despite a thunderstorm warning, an Uber driver was willing to drive three hours to the big moment. The Uber driver was a former airman himself, Richard said, which he took as a sign, and having asked the OBGYN to delay Nadrena heading into her appointment for as long as possible, Richard made his way to the medical center and turned his location off. With Nadrena becoming increasingly frustrated by the hold-up, she was then given a beautiful surprise when her husband walked into the room.
