00:00Cuba rejects the United States Presidential Memorandum that strengthens the economic, financial and trade blockade.
00:18An illegal ruling by a U.S. judge against the Argentine state-owned company, Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales, has caused the price of the dollar in the South American nation to rise to a new record high.
00:34And in Iran, the decree signed by President Massoud Pesce can suspend the country's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency come into force as of Wednesday.
00:52Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Dele Sous Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:58With the news, stay with us.
01:04Cuba rejects the United States Presidential Memorandum that strengthens the economic, financial and trade blockade.
01:20The Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said that the Trump administration's documents serve the interests of those who profit from the pain, suffering and deprivation of the Cuban people.
01:31In addition, the Cuban Foreign Ministry affirmed that the original text and its tradition include a set of measures aimed at destabilizing the island.
01:40Government authorities denounced the promotion of pressure measures on international commercial and financial entities to make their links with Havana impossible.
01:48China opposes the U.S. moves to abuse unilateral sanctions and urged the U.S. to immediately lift the blockade and sanctions against Cuba and remove the country from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
02:06I noted relevant reports.
02:09Over the past 60 years and more, the U.S. barbarian blockade and illegal sanctions against Cuba have severely infringed on Cuba's right to subsistence and development and violated basic norms of international relations.
02:34And the National Assembly of Venezuela has declared worker Turk persona non grata the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights for ignoring the forced disappearance of Venezuelan migrants kidnapped in El Salvador.
02:54The National Assembly also demands the immediate repatriation of 18 children held by the U.S. authorities.
02:59More details in the following report by our colleague Bernardo Gurrieta.
03:03The parliamentarians consider the history of systematic human rights violations against Venezuelan migrants in the United States to be serious.
03:13These are crimes that have been committed. According to our records, 18 Venezuelan children are being kidnapped and who knows what families they are with in a rotten society like the United States society.
03:27May God protect our children. May God protect the people of our country. May God protect the citizens who were deceived at a bad time.
03:41This is so that the United Nations system Volker Turk, who speaks about human rights in Venezuela, will speak out and say something about this.
03:56They say nothing about this, just as they say nothing about the tens of thousands of women, children and civilians who are murdered every day in the Gaza Strip by the Israeli Zenist regime.
04:06The members of the Democratic opposition consider the violation of international law by the governments of the United States and El Salvador against Venezuelans to be unprecedented.
04:21And they have turned our Venezuelans into tools in the concentration camp of El Salvador.
04:28And dear members of Congress, the most serious thing is that Venezuelans ask for and support all of the above while living in Venezuela.
04:39The legislative branch asks the government to consider withdrawing from the United Nations Human Rights Office while Volker Turk is in office.
04:54In addition to announcing a series of protests in support of the 18 Venezuelan children detained in the United States.
05:01We have no right to forget the face of this torrent Volker Turk.
05:07He is as much a murderer as those who commit the murders themselves.
05:18They have killed more than 80,000 people in the Gaza Strip, including 35,000 children supposedly.
05:32It must be many more, and this unpresentable man has said nothing.
05:35This man has committed crimes in our country Volker Turk has committed crimes punishable in Venezuela.
05:40He is an accomplice to kidnapping.
05:45A letter was sent by the president of the country to the Pope demanding the release of the 252 Venezuelans kidnapped in El Salvador.

07:44Welcome back, as we have been reporting carnivals are in full celebration in St. Vincent
07:58and the Grandinx.
07:59Let's go live with our special envoy Belen de los Santos to learn more of what is happening
08:03right now.
08:04Hello Belen, welcome.
08:05Hello Luis, it's a pleasure to be here and it's truly a pleasure to be at this really
08:12a Caribbean paradise that is St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
08:16We are very close to the capital of Kingstown and we have been reporting that Bintimath is
08:21underway, the very own St. Vincent Carnival, very important for this nation, very important
08:28for these people who have been preparing for this, not only in this St. Vincent, the main
08:33island, but also in the Grenadines with different events, let's recall that officially this is
08:39taking place this week and it has started last week as well.
08:44And it will continue until Tuesday when it will end with the Mardi Gras masquerade.
08:51Also Monday, we will have a very important two-bird celebration where people celebrate with pain.
08:59And it's a very colorful party that really unites everyone out in the streets.
09:05During these days before those main events, we are watching and seeing different activities
09:12throughout the city and the different cities.
09:16And particularly here in Kingstown, we have a lot of activities and we were focusing on
09:22the cultural relevance.
09:24And we were saying that a lot has to do with honoring these two musical rhythms that are the
09:30Calypso and Soca.
09:31And let's look a little bit more on these.
09:34The Calypso, a traditional Caribbean rhythm, original from Trinidad and Tobago and very important
09:44in this Caribbean island.
09:45It has its own celebrations here and its own tradition in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
09:51And we were saying that one of the main events is the selection of the Calypso monarchs as
09:58the Soca monarchs.
09:59That is the best of the best in a competition that is really about showcasing different talents.
10:06And Calypso has this importance of lyrics and social commentary and highlighting the most
10:13important ways of expression.
10:15So we've been seeing just the younger kids because as we were commenting before yesterday
10:21was the junior edition of this competition.
10:24So really, really young girls and boys coming out and speaking of freedom, speaking of love,
10:30speaking of the importance of their identity.
10:33And that was really wonderful to see.
10:35Also wonderful to see those mothers and fathers celebrating those efforts.
10:40And in the coming days, we'll have the adult editions that everyone here is waiting for.
10:46Also Soca, we were mentioning a rhythm that comes from that Calypso origin, but is mainly
10:52focused on the dancing, a better energetic dancing that also has to do with the traditions
10:59and cultures of the region here, in particular of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
11:04Also, we were speaking to the Minister of Culture here in the island.
11:10And he was highlighting yesterday the fact that this is not only a local celebration,
11:16although local slay, of course, the most relevant part, but it's also a moment in which
11:21St. Vincent and the Grenadines shares itself with the region and with the world.
11:25So they are inviting people from across the Caribbean, from South America, from overseas
11:30to come here and join them and also use the opportunity to get to know the island.
11:35Also the Grenadines and all the different cultural and natural spaces that it has.
11:42So it's a lot of celebration, a lot of parties.
11:44We're looking forward to the still band competition tomorrow.
11:47We're also looking forward to the all white party on Friday.
11:51We'll continue updating you with everything from this beautiful place that is St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
11:58For now, I go back to you Luis.
12:00Thank you Belen for the latest details on this beautiful and joyful carnival taking place in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
12:07We're going to stay in touch, as always, to have more of what is happening in the Caribbean island.
12:11Let's now continue with our news.
12:13We're going to Argentina.
12:15An illegal ruling by a U.S. judge against the state-owned company Yassimientos Bertoliferos Fiscales has caused the price of the dollar in the South American nation to rise to a new record high.
12:26On Tuesday, the so-called retail dollar rose to 1,235 pesos at the Banco de la Nación, but the blue dollar was traded at 1,225 pesos.
12:37The generalized increase in prices came after Judge Loretta Presca's own federal ruling against this backdrop.
12:44The current governor of the province, Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, who was mentioned by President Javier Millet in his capacity as economic minister at the time of the nationalization of the Argentine state-owned company,
12:56criticized the president, reminding him that the national company cannot be sold or surrendered.
13:03He also drew attention to the dangerous behavior of the head of state.
13:10He claims that it is my fault, or it is the fault of those who participated in the expropriation decision, and the truth is that it is absolutely contradictory and dangerous.
13:27Because the president of the nation stands by the plaintiffs, such move contradicts the defense of the national interest,
13:34Milet puts the national interest at risk.
13:37He even contradicts his own state attorney's office.
13:44Likewise, Governor Kicillof reminded that a ruling of a private company, its laws or statutes can never be above the constitution of the country.
13:52What they are discussing is whether the ex statute, a private company, a private enterprise that in its statute can say a lot of things,
14:03be approved by a majority, by its assembly, or a law, and more than that, the national constitution worths more.
14:11The power it has, in addition, it is duly explicit, it is not subjected to any other domain, nor any other regulations.
14:20The power to expropriate that the national constitution given.
14:24Or the expropriation laws.
14:26There is no way that someone can consider that because the ex statute says one thing or the other.
14:34So that he claims that if control is taken, one must pay to a certain minority group, or not, bidding a purchase option as happens with the ex statute to all shareholders for extremely high values.
14:47Well, none of that is above the constitution and Argentine laws.
14:55And on Tuesday, for the first time in Costa Rica, the justice system requests the suspension of the immunity of a president in office.
15:02The Supreme Court wants to investigate President Rodrigo Chavez accused of corruption, with 15 votes out of 22.
15:09The highest court of justice approved the request to the legislature to investigate the president's involvement in the assignment of a contract of $400,000
15:17with financing from the Central American Bank for economic integration.
15:21The court wants to investigate the accusation that President Chavez asked a businessman for $32,000 in exchange for a contract with the presidency.
15:30Both the head of state and Minister of Culture, Jorge Rodriguez, are suspected for embezzlement in the contracting of companies.
15:42In Haiti, authorities reported at least three people killed and several trapped when a building under construction collapsed in Juana Mendes,
15:49right on the border with the Dominican Republic.
15:52Witnesses reported that several people were inside the building at the time of the collapse, some of whom were sleeping when the roof collapsed.
15:59Rescue teams made up of the police, civil protection and the Brigade of Security of Protected Areas are working on the site.
16:06So far they have recovered the lifeless bodies of three victims, while the exact number of trapped people is still uncertain.
16:13The rescue work is complicated and dangerous due to the weight of the concrete, which slows down the operation.
16:20And Haiti reached 15 days of blackout in Port-au-Prince following protests at the Peliger Power Station.
16:32Citizens accused the authorities of being accomplices to the criminal armed groups that are causing chaos.
16:37Since June 17, residents paralyzed the power grid to demand measures to safeguard the people's safety.
16:43They also asked authorities to put an end to the security crisis caused by the Parliamentary Armed Groups,
16:48while assuring that the members of the Presidential Transition Council are in disagreement with the government and divided among themselves,
16:55which does not help to solve social issues.
16:58Civil society members say they do not need dialogues, only the guarantee of security to restore power in Port-au-Prince.
17:05A federal judge blocked the U.S. government's attempt to end temporary protected status for Haitian migrants before the scheduled date,
17:17leading a blow to its immigration policies.
17:20Federal District Judge Brian Coogan in Brooklyn also accuses Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem of violating the law
17:26by rushing to strip deportation protection and work permits from more than half a million people.
17:32The ruling notes that Noem has no inherent or legal authority to partially terminate a country's TPS designation.
17:38This ruling follows a lawsuit filed in March by nine Haitian beneficiaries and the Service Employees International Union.

18:48The Government Information Office in Gaza confirmed death and wounded and denounced that going for humanitarian aid represents a suicide for the people of Gaza.
18:58They pointed out that the responsibility for death lies with Israel and the U.S. private security company that is in charge of delivering the supposed aid.
19:06Palestinians urged the international community to take action for the violations of their rights and to prevent the situation from escalating,
19:14as these humanitarian agencies have broken off all collaboration with the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation after these killings.
19:21And Zionist Israeli forces also assassinated on Wednesday the director of the Indonesian hospital in the Gaza Strip, Dr. Marwan Sultan, in the western part of the coastal enclave.
19:38Palestinians claim that Dr. Marwan was killed along with his family following drone strikes on his residents that also left several injured.
19:45In recent days, Dr. Marwan denounced that Israeli drones directly attacked several departments of the hospital, including the intensive care unit.

20:29Parliament President Mohammad Bhagir Ghalibaf said that at the time that the organization's President Rafael Grossi had not even formally condemned the attack on his territory.

20:54Russia and Kyrgyzstan engaged in talks in various areas to strengthen their bilateral cooperation.
