00:00Which brings us to the guy leading the charge here for the rotation of the Boston Red Sox.

00:04And that is one Mr. Garrett Crochet, my ace of the week. It was pretty, pretty, pretty good.

00:11Seven innings pitched, 10 strikeouts, zero earned runs, none. Three walks from him,

00:17an incredible performance. Look, Garrett Crochet has been in an advertise. I still can't believe

00:21the coup that the Red Sox pulled off, trading Kyle Teal and Chase Mydraff for Garrett Crochet.

00:26I can't believe the White Sox somehow let the Red Sox steal him away for that.

00:32There were so many other teams in baseball that probably could offer a better package.

00:36Maybe nobody wanted to. I don't know what the reason was, but Boston got themselves their future

00:41ace, a left-handed pitcher with big time power potential. They're a guy who's going to get

00:45you probably 200 plus strikeouts every single season. He's healthy and taking the mound.

00:50It was a great start for him this week. George, he wasn't the only great starter this week though,

00:55because your guy looks like he's all the way back. I have to say when I was at home and I flipped on

01:03the television and I saw the alert underneath that said, no hitter alert. And I saw Jacob DeGrom.

01:09I got a pit in my stomach and I'll tell you why, because all I kept thinking about was, oh no,

01:13I don't want him to go to 110, 120 pitches. Oh no, please. Somebody get a hit here off Jacob DeGrom,

01:19because this is not what he's been building up for. Luckily it was a very efficient night for him.

01:25I think he was around what, like 90 pitches or so for this eventually in the eighth inning guy got

01:30a hit. They took him out. We move on, but still regardless, an incredible performance. So let's

01:35talk about Jacob DeGrom, where you have him ranked the rest of the season too, in terms of starting

01:40pitchers. Do you believe that Jacob DeGrom is all the way back now after what you saw,

01:46not only in this start against the Orioles, but what you've seen from Jacob DeGrom in the last,

01:49I would say, six weeks or so?

01:52I mean, I'm not going to put him, Jacob DeGrom, back in his prime there, but he's immensely better

01:59than what we expected this season, right? He's got that, what, 14 starts, 15 starts,

02:04200 runs or less. He's playing lights out here. You mentioned that the no hitter, and no doubt that

02:08Boshi was thrilled when he gave up that hit. Every manager, by the way, is thrilled when

02:11the pitcher gives up a hit because nobody wants, it's just, it's sad. Oh my God, he might throw

02:16110 pitches. God forbid. You know, they're all thrilled when your pitcher gives up that

02:21hit, right? Clark Schmitt got taken out. Granted, it would have taken him 130 pitches. He was

02:24well over 100 as it was. Nick Martinez, you know, they were thrilled when he gave up the

02:28hit here. And now DeGrom, it is what it is. But, you know, as far as DeGrom, yeah, I think

02:33he's, he's coming pretty close to that guy. They've been very, I think the most important

02:37thing is Texas has told him, okay, listen, we're going to have you go, you know, we're

02:40going to baby you to come to the start of the season, 50 pitches, 60 pitches, 70 pitches.

02:44You're certainly not going above 90 to 100 here. And you don't need to go max velocity

02:49every pitch. All right. Be a pitcher, not a thrower. I think more pitches need to be

02:54that. You joked earlier in the show about Mizorowski, who's certainly a young guy waiting

02:59to happen. We all know that. I'm sorry, a Tommy John guy waiting to happen here. It's

03:04going to happen. He's, well, maybe he's not, he's not, he's not built here. Right. Maybe

03:08both. Eventually. I don't, I don't really have much doubt about that, but he's not built

03:11like Roger Clemens, that big burly Texan guy. These guys are all stick figures and it's

03:15going to happen sooner, probably sooner rather than later. It's get out of the way

03:18here. So DeGrom, most important thing for him is be a pitcher. You don't need to throw

03:23the ball 99 miles an hour. Every pitcher, 95, 96 will get major league batters out as long

03:29as you put it in the right spot. Yeah. It's starting to look a little like the end of

03:34Pedro Martinez career too, with the Mets where he was not quite what he was, but he was certainly

03:38good enough to get you some W's and maybe get you in the playoffs. Another ace, our producer,

03:43Sam's ace of the week, Sonny Gray. He keeps telling me it's the obvious one. And maybe,

03:47maybe it is 11 strikeouts, nine innings pitch for him, no earn, no walk. So certainly if you

03:52got that bonus, pretty damn good there for Sonny Gray for the complete game and the shutout

03:58there, George, real quick, going back to the Rangers, Rangers are two and a half games out

04:03of the wild card. I know Seager has struggled this year. Simeon was awful. Finally showing

04:07signs of life in the month of June, Wyatt Langford, you know, again, another side injury, another

04:12issue here. Are the Rangers a legitimate playoff contending team or should they look to maybe

04:17unload the rest of this DeGrom contract before it's too late?

04:22Would anyone take on that contract?

04:24That's a happy Congress to take on here for a guy who, granted we think he's back, but

04:28it's been three months.
