5 bodies recovered after flash floods near Manuni stream in Himachal's Kangra, rescue ops underway

Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh), June 25, 2025 (ANI): Amid heavy rainfall and rising water levels, five bodies have been recovered near the Manuni stream in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district. ADM Shilpi Beakta confirmed the development and stated that rescue operations are ongoing to trace those possibly swept away by the sudden surge of water. "Yesterday at around 4.30, a video circulated and we received a message that a dead body was spotted in the Manuni River stream. Our teams also went upstream and recovered one more body. We found two dead bodies. There is a Manuni Riverlet, there is a hydro power project, and 15-20 workers are missing... Search and rescue operations were launched... A total of about 50 personnel from the SDRF and NDRF are involved... We have retrieved a total of 5 dead bodies... Death toll is 5, one has been rescued alive, three people are missing”, she said.

00:29At 7.30 we received a message that upstream there is a hydropower project where 15-20 workers have been found missing.

00:45After receiving the information we launched a huge search and rescue operation which involved our teams from SDRF, our local police officials.

00:56And the same was being closely monitored by our Deputy Commissioner, SDM, SHO and Additional SP, Kangra and Dharamchala.

01:10By late evening we were told that there are total 7 people missing and 2 bodies were already recovered.

01:20So our total was about 9 including 2 dead bodies.

01:29Jisme NDRF ki team bhi involved thi and a total of about 50 personnel from NDRF, SDRF and Himachal Police were involved.

01:39Our home guard jawans were also involved in the same.

01:42So right now we have retrieved a total of 5 dead bodies which include the 2 bodies retrieved yesterday.

01:53And we had the input that out of the 7 missing, one had ventured into the forest area.
