A chilling video captures the horrifying moment when a huge flash flood crashed into the village of Dharali, Uttarakhand, India.
The force of the waves flattened buildings and destroyed everything in its path.
This water wave was the result of a massive cloudburst in Dharali, Uttarakhand. A cloudburst occurs after a heavy rainfall in a short span of time.
Manu Dhama, owner of the Harshil Orchids home stay in Uttarakhand, reported that the cloudburst triggered devastating flash floods that destroyed homes, trees, and vehicles.
The video was captured from the opposite side of the floods from a fairly safe distance, and the home stay staff’s panic and shock can be heard very clearly through the audio.
Manu Dhama said: “The landslide resulted in a lot of damage to properties and grave loss of people.
“So far, more than 70 people have been rescued, but there are still a lot of people missing.
“There is no network in the area, and according to the disaster management department, it will take another few hours until people get connectivity back.
“People are being provided with medications and basic necessities.
“The incident of the cloud explosion in Uttarkashi is very painful; the loss of life in this natural disaster is very unfortunate.
“We pray for the families affected and hope relief and rescue work goes fast. May God give everyone the strength to overcome this difficult time.”
