00:00Yeah, just on that striker situation, obviously it's shaping up that Liverpool might be sort of aiming for this hybrid forward line that clearly worked and returned the Premier League title again.
00:11And with the output of Mohamed Salah, for example, on the right, and if they can keep Luis Diaz as well.
00:17Do you feel that's not a major issue if they do go into the season without a replacement number nine, if Darwin Nunez is to go the other way?
00:25Because this hybrid line that where, you know, you do see a lot of chopping and changing, but with the fluidity of the forwards and the creative players behind them, it did seem to work a treat last season.
00:37Yeah, it's funny, though, because at the start of the summer, everyone was saying, well, the priorities are striking.
00:44Of course, it was a right back because, you know, people knew that Trent Alexander-Arnold was going, didn't take a genius for that.
00:50A left back as well, but if you had to say one position that needs strengthening, it would be a striker.
00:57Say, Nunez, eight starts, seven goals in all competitions.
01:02Diogo Giotta has his injury problems yet again, and after he returned from injury issues, he just couldn't get up to speed.
01:09Now, that's not to say he might not start the season well like he did last year, but once he gets them injuries, he just takes a while to find rhythm again.
01:17And Liverpool can't afford to take that gamble.
01:22And Luis Diaz did well operating as a mid-shift number nine.
01:26He's far better on the left wing for me, albeit he's scored some real good goals as a striker.
01:33Hats are games by a league who's in the Champions League, but I think he's better someone playing wide who'll get you up the pitch,
01:40drag defenders away, create space for other players.
01:43And Cody Gakpo is very much favoured as a left winger now, even though he plays centrally under Jürgen Klopp.
01:52So, I did fear this though, because there are a lot of clubs in the market for strikers this summer.
02:00We knew that Arsenal are chasing more Man Utd, are they going to get another on the line?
02:07Maybe he doesn't see, say, as Cooney as quite an out-and-out number nine.
02:10He might seem as one of them number 10s at Man Utd.
02:14Chelsea have signed Liam De Laft, do they want to go and get another one, especially if Nicholas Jackson were to leave?
02:20So, it's a difficult market to navigate for Liverpool, and I think there are only a few out there.
02:27Obviously, Alexander Isak is the dream, but I think Newcastle will be reluctant to sell, especially with them back in the Champions League.
02:35Look, if Liverpool had the chance to sign, maybe they would go and do it, because that would be another absolute statement to sign.
02:43And who else is out there, who they can go and say, this player will score us 25 league goals this season.
02:51Let's talk of Hugo Ekotike at Antrim at Frankfurt.
02:55Is he the man to go and do that? I don't know.
02:58Will he take a while to adapt? He's still only youngish.
03:02Benjamin Sesko at RB Leipzig.
03:04Of course, Gokker is at Sporting Lisbon.
03:08I think of the people that liked him, they may be signed by now.
03:10And Victor Osman and Napoli, is he a Liverpool-type player as well?
03:17So, these are all the things that Anastasia has got to balance.
03:20And maybe he's looking at him thinking, well, that's rather not wasting money.
03:24I think, as you say, we can get by.
03:25We can be a little bit more fluid.
03:28We can not have that focal point.
03:30We can maybe cause defence's problems by running around and not knowing who is your main number nine.
03:40So, I personally would prefer Liverpool to go and get a striker, a prop one who you know is going to lead the line for a good few years.
03:51But if the right one's not out there, then it's pointless.
03:55I just don't see the point in going to spend money.
03:58And you may as well wait another year.
04:01Because I think Anastasia is so tactically astute that I think Liverpool could get by.
04:06And it'll only be a certain few games where you might miss an out-and-out one.
04:10But you've got Jotter as well who will be staying as well.
04:12And he can do that job.
04:14So, let's not forget that.
04:15And maybe he can manage his minutes better than the games where you do need a proper striker.
04:19Then you play Diogo Jotter.
04:20And the games where you might be able to get by, then you leave him on the bench.
