00:00We head now to St. Petersburg, Russia, where the St. Petersburg International Economic
00:12Forum closed its curtain last Saturday. Awani Leeds editor Najee Airov is on the ground
00:17with Russia's Minister of Energy, Sergei Zvov, to talk about how is Russia positioning itself
00:23in the global energy market amid shifting alliances and ongoing sentience.
00:30Thank you, studio. I'm here at the SPF 2025, organized by Ross Congress Foundation, where
00:40Russia's energy minister has just concluded a key final session on the future of global
00:45energy. This is a very timely topic and one of the key focus right here in SPF 2025, given
00:52that we are currently facing, and Russia currently facing the economic isolation and economic
00:57sanctions, and at the same time we have the geopolitical tensions that has caused the oil
01:02price to spike in the global arena. And also, of course, I asked him, the minister, how
01:10Russia is positioning itself in a world where basically energy flows are being redirected,
01:15and at the same time alliances are shifting, and demand from Asia and also the global south
01:21is rising. Here's what he had to say.
01:24We are now forced to create technologies, because before we used technologies, which
01:34has been developed by Collective Запад. Not by our fault, but by our fault, we have
01:38lost access to these technologies. And so, we have opened new possibilities. We have
01:43these technologies to develop ourselves.
01:46A new plant, and we have the best described governments to become the best of the global
02:00sector and the global economy.
02:02And more than 80% of all technologies, which are still known in the world and are used in
02:03the energy sector, Russia's already uses them in the global sector. We have the
02:05potential of 100% of all technologies.
02:07So there you have it. Russia is using this moment basically not to just maintain its position
02:08in the global energy market, but also to transform itself into a fully self-reliant energy
02:14self-reliant energy technology powerhouse from St. Petersburg Najib Arof reporting with
02:20Rizal Rahim and Linda Salim for Awan International.
