00:03When it comes to the persecution of witches,

00:06Sussex was far from enthusiastic.

00:09There were only ever four convictions for witchcraft

00:12in this county and only one execution.

00:14However, that belies the hold that magic,

00:19both good and evil, held over the country people,

00:22long after the Witchcraft Act was abolished in 1736.
