00:18your car running while you run into a store, for example. The site points out that leaving

00:22your car unattended and running is illegal in at least 30 states and Washington, D.C.

00:27Besides turning your car off, be sure to roll up all the windows, and close the sunroof

00:32and, of course, lock those doors. Money Talks News says the LAPD's sage advice is to keep

00:37any valuables in your ride out of view when you leave it. Take advantage of storage areas

00:41like the trunk, the glove compartment, or, if you can, hide objects under the seat. This

00:46should prevent thieves from being tempted after doing any window shopping. A soft convertible

00:51top may be a great look, but the site says it can also attract thieves. Without a metal

00:55top in place, a crook could easily slice their way into the vehicle.

00:59To further take away temptation, Money Talks News says the Boulder, Colorado Police suggest

01:04not parking near a big truck or any large objects that can obstruct the view of the vehicle

01:08or create a hiding spot. Instead, stick to well-lit and visible parking spots.
