A woman died and another lost her unborn baby in a horrific crash on Newcastle Road.

00:00Road. Police responded to that collision locating a 55-year-old woman deceased in the passenger
00:08side of the Hyundai. The driver of the Hyundai, a 28-year-old female, was in a serious condition
00:15with serious leg injuries. She was conveyed to John Hunter Hospital. We later were informed
00:20that that woman was 25 weeks pregnant and she has since lost that child. Police then
00:28turned to the white Holden Commodore. Located in the back of that vehicle was a 15 and 17-year-old
00:35female, two females. Both were taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment. The driver and the passenger
00:42of that vehicle had left the scene prior to police arrival. Police are wishing to speak to the registered
00:48owner of that vehicle, a 17-year-old female, who we believe can assist us with our inquiries. The 19-year-old
00:54male driver, police are actively searching for that man now. We too believe he can assist
01:00us with our inquiries. The incident has been determined a critical incident with independent
01:05police investigating what has occurred. That investigation will be subject to oversight from
01:12the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission and the Police Professional Standards Command.
