I tried canned wine for the first time - here is what I thought.

00:04going to be taste testing wine that comes in a can. Now I absolutely love a glass of wine,

00:11whether it be a white, a red or a rosé, I really don't mind as long as it's came from a bottle

00:17and into a glass. Now I don't mean it sound pretentious, it's just the way I've always

00:22drank wine, even boxed wine. Yes, I'd give it a try but it's not really for me. However,

00:28my favourite wine of all time, which is nicknamed Chicken Wine because I won't even try to pronounce

00:34its actual name, which is French, has just been launched for the first time in a can. Now I was

00:41so, so eager to try this but sadly I couldn't find it in the shops. Because Chicken Wine is so, so

00:48popular, my assumption is that it has already sold out or maybe it's just my luck that I can't find

00:54it in my local supermarkets. So what I thought I'd do instead is just try what wine is like in a can

01:00regardless of the brand. So I went to Morrison's and I picked up two canned wines, both by the same

01:09brand. This is Most Wanted and they have a Pinot Grigio Fizz and a Pinot Grigio Pink Fizz, both in a

01:19can. These were £2 each. I picked up two because, well number one, they were so cheap and number two

01:25because I wanted to see maybe if they were any different with one of them being white and one

01:31of them being rosé. So yeah, this is my first time as an absolute wine lover trying wine in a can.

01:39So let's take a sip. So I'm starting with the first one, which is the Pinot Grigio Fizz.

01:44It's the white version and yeah, I'm going to take a sip. It is different. I think that if I

01:52maybe decanted this into a glass, it would taste a little bit more similar to wine in a bottle,

01:57but it is crazy how much being in a can can make a difference to the taste. But that's not to say

02:04it's bad. In fact, because I've had this chilling in the fridge, I feel like it's a lot more colder

02:10than when you put a bottle of wine in the fridge and that is a plus with the warm weather. But I'm

02:15going to try the second one now. This is the Pinot Grigio Pink Fizz. So it's a rosé Pinot, which again,

02:22I'm a huge fan of. So I'm going to pop this open and see if it tastes any different to how the white

02:26one tasted. No, it's the same. I mean, obviously you can taste that it's a rosé version rather than

02:33the white, but in regards to it coming from a can, it's exactly the same as the first. I have mixed

02:38feelings about this. I do think wine is certainly better from the bottle and even boxed wine might

02:46be a little better than it coming from a can. But having said that, it's not overly changed the flavour

02:54of wine overall. And I think that I would repurchase because what I think and what makes me inclined to

03:02buy canned wine, and I think many people would agree with this, is that it's great for summer.

03:07Whether you're going to someone's house for a barbecue and you want to bring a lot of drink

03:12with you. I mean, bottles of wine weigh you down. You get worried about the glass smashing.

03:16Or maybe you go to a picnic and you want something to fit into a hamper. Cans are the best. And if

03:22you're someone that loves wine, you know, and you're not likely to pick up, say, a cocktail can,

03:26having wine in a can, it's actually so convenient. And as I said before as well, I do think that if

03:33you're after something really cold during the hot weather, cans just seem to get so much colder than

03:40bottles. And so, yeah, for that reason, it's not my favourite way wine is presented, if you like. I do

03:47prefer a bottle. But this will become a summer stable, just so I can bring a can of wine to any event.

03:55So yeah, I think if I'm looking to have a drink of wine at some sort of event, I'm certainly going to

04:02repurchase cans. I'd be interested in trying other brands as well, because I do think that will make

04:07a difference to the flavour. But I would definitely repurchase these again. They're cheap, they're

04:11convenient, they get extra cold, and I think it's an absolute summer stable.
