00:00We're here at Queensland's CMFU branch headquarters where as you can see, hundreds had turned
00:08out this morning to effectively protest Wednesday's High Court decision.
00:12Now this all really started last year in August when the union was plunged into administration
00:17following allegations that several members had been infiltrating from outlaw motorcycle
00:23gangs into the union branches.
00:25Now this High Court ruling was effectively an appeal from the union to try and overturn
00:32that decision by the federal government.
00:34On Wednesday there was a unanimous decision that that was rejected.
00:37Now this has effectively paved the way for the administration which is currently headed
00:41by the Victorian barrister Mark Irving KC.
00:46Several hundred CMFU members from the Queensland branch gathered this morning and they have
00:51been protesting and chanting.
00:54They say that when the union went into administration last year in August more than 270 union officials
01:00were removed from their positions.
01:02Today they've been chanting for several of those union officials for the Queensland branch
01:07to be reinstated.
01:08Now this is the second day of snap protests by the CMFU to be held in Brisbane and really
01:15we've seen some significant peak hour chaos.
01:17Several streets had to be closed yesterday.
01:20This morning there was only Campbell Street just out the front of the union that was closed
01:24but still a very significant police presence about.
01:28Many members from the CMFU say they expect to wait out for the rest of the day as they continue
01:33to protest the decision.
