Hold onto your butts... these dinosaur-sized plot holes had us roaring with frustration! Join us as we count down the moments that made our favorite prehistoric franchise lose all credibility. From defying physics in high heels to taming apex predators with a simple hand gesture, these scenes had us wondering if the script writers were the ones who went extinct.

00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks from the problems that made
00:13our favorite dinosaur franchise lose credibility.
00:15These are some of the most important moments in the first three Jurassic World movies,
00:19so beware of the spoilers ahead.
00:29If previous films focused on the dangers of genetic powers, this one shows how ridiculous
00:53it can get.
00:54The hybrid Indoraptor is introduced as the ultimate assassin that can kill just about anything,
00:58so long as a laser sight is pointed at its target, but is that really a good selling
01:02point?
01:03If you already have to aim, why not just shoot the target yourself?
01:06The Indoraptor is just an unreliable assassin, and for being the franchise's idea of a perfect
01:11weapon, it was defeated pretty easily.
01:13This just proves that hybrid dinosaurs were one of the worst things these movies tried
01:16to pull off.
01:18number nine, the biggest and dumbest carnivore the world has ever seen, Jurassic World Dominion.
01:39It was always a bit of a stretch to believe the main characters survived every movie, but
01:56this takes it to a whole level of absurdity.
01:59When the cast faces a Gigantosaurus, they try to hide behind a car wreck.
02:03Their reaction is oddly slow, and for some reason, they aren't eaten immediately.
02:07When the giant lizard finally stops playing with its food, it goes after Maisie.
02:11By then, she's already protected by a ladder cage.
02:14Why doesn't it go after the other five humans?
02:31Later, when it finally does corner the group, it decides to go after Ian Malcolm because, well,
02:36there isn't really a reason.
02:37This could have been a top-tier Jurassic moment if it wasn't bogged down by baffling writing.
02:41Number eight, Changing Raptor Allegiances, Jurassic World.
02:59Stand down.
03:00Hey, hey!
03:02What did I just say?
03:05Belt up.
03:06I see you.
03:07Back up.
03:08Okay.
03:09Good.
03:10Every Jurassic fan knows that velociraptors are the smartest dinosaurs in the series.
03:17They even show a capacity for empathy.
03:19These qualities are pretty murky in Jurassic World.
03:21Owen Grady is established as the Alpha of his pack, boldly leading them on a hunt, until
03:26the Indominus becomes the new Alpha.
03:28Look, we're not totally surprised that the raptors turned on their owners.
03:34They are animals, after all, but how does Owen become the Alpha again later?
03:50By showing kindness?
03:52How exactly does this pack dynamic work?
03:54Do you win raptor loyalty by being the strongest or the nicest?
03:58It's all just a mess when you try to apply any logic to it.
04:01Easy.
04:02Easy.
04:03Easy.
04:04Easy.
04:05Easy.
04:06Easy.
04:07Easy.
04:08Easy.
04:09Easy.
04:10Easy.
04:11Easy.
04:13Easy.
04:14Easy.
04:16Easy.
04:17Easy.
04:18Easy.
04:19Easy.
04:20Easy.
04:21In the third Jurassic World-Dominion.
04:22There was always chemistry between Sam Neill's, Alan Grant and Laura Durn's, Ellie Sattler.
04:26Yeah.
04:27Grown.
04:28It's shocking.
04:29Well, they're both in college.
04:30Can you believe that?
04:32And Mark?
04:33It's over.
04:36Oh.
04:39In the first film, their romance was implied, but by the third, it was clear they weren't
04:45together.
04:46world, Dominion saw them reunite to take down the evil company, Biosyn.
04:49They rekindle their relationship and share a kiss by the end, but it just rings hollow.
04:54Ally?
04:55Yeah?
04:56I am coming with you.
05:10There wasn't much going on between them throughout the story, and most audiences had already
05:14moved on from their romance.
05:16This payoff comes as a cheap attempt at fan service.
05:19I'm getting used to it.
05:22Let's finish this.
05:24Yeah.
05:26Number 6.
05:27Masrani Takes Flight.
05:28Jurassic World.
05:29Hey?
05:30Mr. Masrani.
05:31You're flying.
05:33I got my license.
05:36Two more.
05:37Well, two more days.
05:39When the Indominus Rex wipes out people and dinosaurs alike, park security finally calls
05:44in the big guns.
05:45You'd think with thousands of staff, someone would be able to fly a helicopter.
05:49Is he okay?
05:54Are you okay?
05:56Oh, he's just being dramatic.
05:57Are you still building?
05:59But no.
06:00Instead, the owner of Jurassic World, Simon Masrani, decides to lead the dangerous mission
06:06himself.
06:07To no viewer's surprise, it doesn't end well.
06:09The writers could have at least made him an experienced pilot, but the movie makes it
06:12clear that he's not even qualified.
06:14Having a CEO fly into battle was already silly enough to make our eyes roll.
06:18Making him below Amateur was flat out frustrating.
06:33Number 5.
06:34The Floor is Lava.
06:35Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom.
06:37To enjoy a movie about dinosaurs in the modern age, you're going to have to suspend your disbelief
06:41quite a bit.
06:42It is, however, impossible to forgive this ridiculous moment.
06:46In the midst of volcanic eruption, Owen is met by an incoming lava flow.
07:03Because of the effects of a tranq dart, he has to awkwardly drag his own limp body away.
07:08Was this really the best time for some slapstick humor?
07:10The destruction of Isla Nublar is supposed to be one of the most tense and emotional parts
07:15of the movie.
07:16Tonally, it just doesn't fit.
07:18It also just doesn't logically make sense.
07:20Owen should not have walked away unscathed after being so close to molten lava.
07:35Number 4.
07:36Entering the Indominus Rex Enclosure.
07:38Jurassic World.
07:39Like every Jurassic film, a dino has to escape captivity and wreak havoc.
07:55It's just a matter of making their escapes convincing.
07:58When Owen inspects the Indominus Rex paddock, he notices claw marks, making Claire believe
08:02that it climbed out.
08:03Are those claw marks always there?
08:07Strangely, Owen enters the paddock to investigate, even though he's unsure if the Rex is actually
08:21gone.
08:22Anyone with common sense would know that's a bad idea.
08:24Why not check the outside of the enclosure first?
08:27Or better yet, wait for Claire to confirm if it escaped.
08:30Speaking of Claire, why did she drive off instead of just calling central control?
08:33Of all the dino breakouts in the franchise, this one ranks as one of the worst.
08:49Number 3.
08:50Universal Dino Calming.
08:52Jurassic World Dominion.
08:53One of the main draws of these films is the concept of humans learning to tame dinosaurs.
08:57It can be an interesting angle if it's convincing enough.
09:00Take Owen's training gesture for example.
09:23We can buy that he raised the raptors to obey this simple command, as absurd as it is, but
09:27Dominion puts way too much faith in this technique.
09:29Owen manages to hold off two massive carnivores by extending his hand, and it somehow works.
09:34It's doubtful that any wild dinosaur will respond to this.
09:37What's even sillier is that this later works on the baby velociraptor beta.
09:41At this point, the taming method feels more like magic than science.
09:44Number 2.
09:58Claire's High Heels.
10:00Jurassic World.
10:01Remember when the T-Rex chased down a jeep in the first film?
10:03Well, she must have slowed down with age because she couldn't catch up to a human woman this
10:07time around.
10:08Even if Claire was a track star, there's no way she could outrun a dinosaur that moves
10:21at 32 miles an hour.
10:34Not only did she survive, she did so in heels.
10:38Heels!
10:39They don't even try to hide it.
10:41The camera, in fact, focuses on them.
10:43She should have at least gone barefoot or ditched the heels before the finale.
10:46That would have made this moment a little more believable.

11:11Number 1.
11:13Releasing the Dinosaurs.
11:14Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom.
11:16Car crash.
11:17Or that it's beyond our control, like a fatal illness.
11:20We don't conceive of sudden, radical, irrational change as woven into the very fabric of existence.
11:28Yet I can assure you, it most assuredly is.
11:31And it's happening now.
11:33This ending left us with so many questions, and not the good kind.
11:36One is whether having a human clone in the franchise is jumping the shark.
11:40The biggest head-scratcher, though, is Maisie's decision to release dinosaurs into the world.
11:44It seems to reflect an animal rights message, but it doesn't make much sense.
11:48I had to.
11:54They're alive.
11:56Like me.
11:58Although we appreciate Maisie's empathy, painting this as the right choice feels forced.
12:02All of this exists because of me.
12:06If I don't innovate, somebody else will.
12:10These few dinosaurs wouldn't be enough to save entire species.
12:13They'd likely just cause havoc before dying out or getting captured.
12:16This also contradicts the previous film's themes, which emphasize that these dinos are more artificial creations than real animals.
12:23So the preservation dilemma falls flat.
12:25That real scientists make real discoveries.
12:28Now what John Hammond and InGen did at Jurassic Park is create genetically engineered theme park monsters.
12:35Nothing more and nothing less.
12:37Do you think you'd be smart enough to survive the Jurassic World movies?
12:40Let us know in the comments.
12:42I overall hate your aliens!
12:43Yeah!
12:44See!
12:45Not at 2x!
12:46Found a spider!
