00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most nerve-wracking moments in the Jurassic World movies.
00:11This naturally means that we won't be including scenes from the Jurassic Park trilogy that started at all.
00:16If you're not caught up, keep in mind we will be delving into spoiler territory.
00:30Number 20. Killing for Sport, Jurassic World
00:34Largely responsible for the downfall of Jurassic World in 2015, the Indominus Rex is a pure menace.
00:43Unlike most predators who kill to eat, this beast kills simply because it can.
00:48In one scene, Owen and Claire discover several Apatosaurus dead in the field.
00:52One still clings to life, and its wounds tell a disturbing story.
00:56The Indominus Rex didn't just hunt for survival, it killed for sport.
01:08Six kills in one single afternoon?
01:11That's not a dinosaur anymore, it's a monster.
01:13A creature that breaks all natural rules.
01:16But what else do you expect from a hybrid made from a cocktail of deadly DNA?
01:20There's a reason it tops the fear chart.
01:22It didn't eat him.
01:26It's killing for sport.
01:31Number 19. Nightmarish Bathroom Break, Jurassic World Rebirth
01:35The latest Jurassic World adventure engages considerably with the inevitability of evolution.
01:41This is best exemplified by this frightening clash between classic dinosaurs and a newer hybrid.
01:47As the Delgados trek through the jungle, Teresa's boyfriend Xavier makes a pit stop,
01:51only to find himself cornered by a pair of raptors.
01:54The result say they're raptors.
01:56They're raptors.
01:57Before the iconic predators can make their move, however, they're ambushed by a voracious mutadon.
02:03Interestingly, Rebirth never actually shows the carnage play out,
02:06opting to stay focused on Xavier's mortified reaction to the sounds behind him.
02:10Not only does this sequence set up the pterosaur-raptor hybrid as a formidable presence,
02:15it's also a masterful callback to director Steven Spielberg.
02:19Sometimes, what we don't see is a lot scarier than what we do.
02:23Don't see that every day.
02:24Or ever.
02:25Number 18. Allosaurus and Carnotaurus Attack Scene, Jurassic World Dominion
02:30This sci-fi thriller may not be gladiator,
02:33but the black market scene sure brings back that primal fear of being trapped between your opponent and a ferocious animal.
02:38To rescue Maisie, Claire and Owen track her down to Malta where they stumble into an illegal dinosaur market.
02:44It is pure chaos.
02:46Fists fly, cages break, and suddenly, the Allosaurus and Carnotaurus are on the loose.
02:57Those unlucky enough to come across these beasts during the commotion
03:00are instantly at the receiving end of their merciless teeth.
03:08As for Owen, he narrowly escapes being torn to pieces by these two while he's locked in a fierce fight.
03:14You can sell all sorts of things in a black market,
03:16but throwing prehistoric creatures into the mix?
03:18That's just asking for mayhem.
03:20Number 17. The Elevator, Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom
03:24As the Indoraptor gives Ken Wheatley his just desserts,
03:31Gunnar Eversol tries to make a break for it.
03:33The wormy auctioneer tries to operate the elevator,
03:36but a screaming woman he pushes out of the way catches the dinosaur's attention.
03:40With the beast charging at full force,
03:42the elevator doors slam shut just in the nick of time.
03:46The survivors seem to be in the clear,
03:48until a lucky swing of the Indoraptor's tail stalls the elevator.
03:52He turns around to find out that he's the one about to go extinct.
03:55While the situation is certainly alarming,
03:58the audience mainly feels satisfaction as Eversol gets his comeuppance.
04:02Number 16. Truck Chase, Jurassic World
04:08Reminiscent of the iconic car chase from Jurassic Park,
04:15Claire and her nephews must go faster when a raptor ambushes their ambulance.
04:19As a man is torn to shreds,
04:22Claire slaps her high heel on the pedal and creates some distance between them.
04:25Another raptor is close behind, however,
04:28leaping through the glass and snapping its fearsome teeth right in front of Claire's face.
04:32With two raptors hot on their tail,
04:34the trio gives them the slip with an oxygen tank,
04:37some sharp maneuvering and a shock prod.
04:39Well staged and fast paced,
04:41this scene hits the gas from the get-go without ever slowing down.
04:45Number 15. T-Rex Attacks the Raft, Jurassic World Rebirth
04:55Imagine you're on a raft with your family,
04:57then suddenly something breaches the water surface and starts stalking you.
05:01You look around and you notice your attacker is none other than a T-Rex,
05:05a massive creature that can crush you with a finger.
05:08No matter how fast you paddle,
05:11you can't seem to get rid of this massive predator.
05:14Panic sets in as you try to navigate to safety,
05:17only to be knocked into the water.
05:19Your family is scattered, yet this giant beast just keeps coming.
05:26It's legitimately terrifying.
05:29Even if dinosaurs don't scare you,
05:31this particular sequence will leave you absolutely shaken.
05:39Number 14.
05:40Baryonyx in the Lava Tunnel, Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom
05:44What do you do when you're stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea?
05:48For Claire and Franklin, that question becomes all too real.
05:51Trapped in a bunker as Isla Nublar crumbles,
05:53they find themselves in one of the movie's most intense sequences.
05:57On one side, the molten lava starts dripping through the ceiling.
06:00On the other hand, a baryonyx crawls through the tunnel,
06:04leaving them completely trapped.
06:05The tension skyrockets as they struggle to find a way out
06:08while the baryonyx lunges at them.
06:10Franklin screams, only adding to the chaos.
06:24Fueled by pure survival instinct,
06:26they barely make it out in time,
06:28leaving the baryonyx locked inside.
06:30Talk about a close call.
06:31Number 13.
06:40The Raptors Switch Sides, Jurassic World
06:43Although Owen has his reservations,
06:46the raptors he's been training seem to be the only ones that can track down the Indominus Rex.
06:50Owen riding his motorcycle alongside the velociraptors
06:53is easily one of the most badass images in the entire franchise.
06:56He's unable to lead the raptors for much longer, however,
07:00because something is clearly amiss from the second they locate the Indominus.
07:04The audience and our heroes are overcome with a sense of impending doom
07:08as these dinosaurs communicate with each other,
07:10realizing that the Indominus is part raptor
07:13and has thus become the new alpha.
07:16Watching the raptors turn on the humans is a spine-tingling moment
07:19as matters go from bad to worse.
07:25Number 12.
07:26Pyroraptor on Ice, Jurassic World Dominion
07:29Say what you will about Jurassic World Dominion,
07:32but one thing's for sure,
07:33it gave us some truly cool dinosaurs.
07:36The pyroraptor being one of the most memorable.
07:38After their plane is taken down by a Quetzalcoatlus,
07:41Owen and Kayla crash onto a frozen lake.
07:44That's when the pyroraptor shows up,
07:46its dangerous eyes locked on them.
07:49When the icy surface cracks,
07:55this feathered dinosaur takes everyone by surprise.
07:58Diving underwater, it begins to hunt them from below.
08:02Owen falls in,
08:03and the creature comes right after him
08:04in a sequence that'll leave you holding your breath.
08:14Nowhere is safe.
08:15Not the surface, and definitely not below.
08:17It is cinematic terror at its finest,
08:20especially with an evolved killer
08:21in an unpredictable playground.
08:29Number 11.
08:31Raptors Go Rogue, Jurassic World
08:33The Jurassic World films are packed with thrills and chills,
08:36but not all scenes hit the same.
08:38This one grips you with real dread
08:40as a raptor feeding session goes terribly wrong.
08:42A worker slips and falls right into the raptor paddock,
08:52and panic explodes as these creatures close in.
08:55That's when Owen jumps right in to save him.
08:57Oh no, hold your fire!
09:00Hold your fire, do not fire!
09:03But things get seriously unpredictable and scary
09:06when his control over them starts to slip.
09:08For a second, it feels like they're going to tear him to pieces.
09:12They don't, and that almost is what makes it a nail-biting experience.
09:16Somehow, he gets out just before their final strike.
09:19Honestly, it's a chilling reminder that raptors are no pets,
09:30and cannot be completely controlled.
09:32Number 10.
09:33Indoraptor Kills Wheatley, Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom
09:36Don't we just love it when villains fall victim to their own greed?
09:40That's exactly what happens with this cruel man
09:42who's obsessed with collecting dinosaur teeth.
09:44In a cocky move to claim his payment,
09:46Wheatley struts into the auction room
09:48and spots the Indoraptor.
09:50Believing it's tranquilized,
09:51he waltzes into its cage to yank out one of its teeth.
09:54This will make a perfect centerpiece for my necklace.
09:58But surprise!
10:00The Indoraptor is only pretending to be unconscious.
10:03When Wheatley least expects it,
10:05the beast strikes,
10:06chomping off the very hand stuck inside its mouth.
10:14Suddenly, tough guy Wheatley is reduced to a terrified mess.
10:17It might serve him right,
10:19but that doesn't make the moment any less nerve-wracking.
10:31The Indominus Rex escapes Jurassic World
10:33The Indominus Rex is certainly a clever girl,
10:38using its camouflage and heat signature masking ability
10:41to make it appear as if she's broken out.
10:44By the time control pinpoints its location,
10:46the escape plan is already in motion.
10:49The dinosaur busts through the open gate
10:51and devours two park employees along the way.
10:53The Indominus isn't the only one
10:55that can blend in with its environment, however,
10:57as shown when Owen takes cover under a truck
11:00and hides his scent.
11:01Owen may get out of this jam alive,
11:04but the Indominus is also running wild now.
11:06Following the Jaws rule,
11:08the Indominus is kept cleverly concealed
11:10throughout much of the scene.
11:12Although, just seeing a fraction of its body
11:14is enough to make our hair raise.
11:16Director J.A. Bayona made his feature film debut
11:31with 2007's The Orphanage,
11:33and his horror roots can definitely be found
11:35in Fallen Kingdom.
11:37The second half is essentially a haunted house movie,
11:39except ghosts have been substituted with dinosaurs.
11:43Although the Jurassic World movies
11:44are full of gigantic set pieces,
11:46some of the scariest moments
11:47are the smaller, more intimate ones.
11:50Nowhere is that better exemplified than in this scene,
11:52as Maisie hides under her covers
11:54while the Indoraptor lurks about.
11:56The sequence builds to an especially tense moment
11:59when the Indoraptor intrudes into the bedroom,
12:01slowly extending its menacing claw
12:03towards the quivering little girl.
12:05Owen thankfully shows up,
12:06but it's Blue who really comes to the rescue
12:09as a dino brawl erupts.
12:16Number 7.
12:19Indominus Rex engulfs the gyrosphere,
12:22Jurassic World.
12:22If you've seen the Jurassic Park
12:24and Jurassic World movies,
12:26you know wandering around the park
12:27is basically asking for trouble.
12:29Perhaps no one told Claire's nephews about this.
12:32Instead of remaining at the station,
12:34these two ride into the forest.
12:36While cruising in the gyrosphere ride,
12:38the Indominus Rex sneaks up behind them
12:40and goes full attack mode.
12:55At first,
12:56the glass ball seems like a lifesaver,
12:58but that doesn't make the scene any less scary.
13:01Things get worse
13:02when the Indominus Rex takes down another dino
13:04and starts smashing their ride into pieces.
13:06With nowhere to hide,
13:15they're forced to run for their lives.
13:17It's seriously an intense moment
13:18that had us deeply worried for these poor boys.
13:28Number 6.
13:29Indominus Rex camouflage,
13:31Jurassic World.
13:33Creating a genetically engineered dinosaur
13:35may sound like a profitable way
13:36to drive up attendants,
13:37but Jurassic World made a huge miscalculation
13:40when they gave the Indominus
13:41camouflage abilities.
13:43This scene is like something out of Predator,
13:45as the Indominus uses the green environment
13:47to its advantage
13:48and the hunters become the hunted.
13:50The special unit was basically doomed
13:52from the second they entered the danger zone
13:54without any lethal weapons.
13:56It can camouflage!
13:58As they stumble upon a detached tracking device,
14:01blood rains from the leaves above,
14:03and the Indominus emerges as if from nowhere.
14:07The soldiers do not stand a chance.
14:09Back at control,
14:11a screen full of flatlines confirms
14:12that all hell has officially broken loose.
14:15Evacuate the island.
14:17Number 5.
14:18Therizinosaurus Encounter,
14:20Jurassic World Dominion.
14:22Now this is how to build a truly scary scene.
14:25No loud jump scares,
14:26just silence and slow-burning tension.
14:29After crashing on an island,
14:30Claire is separated from the others
14:32and stuck in a tree.
14:33A Therizinosaurus suddenly appears,
14:35towering and ready to strike.
14:50Luckily, she's not ripped apart instantly
14:52because this one is blind.
14:54But as Claire carefully moves to escape,
14:56the tension heightens.
14:57The dinosaur stalks her closely,
14:59and she knows she has no fighting chance.
15:02So, she does the only thing she can.
15:04Slips into the water and holds her breath
15:06as the creature looms over her.
15:18It's honestly one of the movie's most unsettling scenes
15:21because you can practically feel the danger
15:23breathing down her neck throughout.
15:24Number 4.
15:34Helicopter Getaway,
15:35Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom.
15:37There she is.
15:39In the opening of Fallen Kingdom,
15:41a couple of mercenaries stumble across
15:42the Indominus' skeleton,
15:44although they fail to realize
15:45that the Mosasaurus is still kicking
15:47before it's too late.
15:48The others are having their own problems on land,
15:50as the Tyrannosaurus has also managed to survive.
15:54A particularly oblivious mercenary
15:56doesn't catch on
15:57until the T-Rex is roaring in front of him.
16:02Keeping the audience on edge around every corner,
16:05he runs for the ladder hanging from a helicopter.
16:07Even after the T-Rex loses a game of tug-of-war,
16:11the celebration is fleeting,
16:12with the Mosasaurus lurking in the waters below.
16:15Featuring several chilling shots draped in moonlit terror,
16:19the sequence commences the film on a high note.
16:25Number 3.
16:26Ultimate Showdown,
16:27Jurassic World.
16:28Even after getting the raptors back on their side,
16:34our heroes realize there's only one dinosaur
16:36that can contend with the Indominus.
16:37In a moment that perfectly balances
16:39heart-racing thrills and epic nostalgia,
16:42Claire breaks out a flare and releases the T-Rex.
16:45Thus ensues the Ultimate Showdown,
16:47in which the two towering Titans duke it out
16:50while the humans do their best to not get stepped on.
16:52Run!
16:54The Indominus may still have the upper claw,
16:57but the Tyrannosaurus has blue in its corner.
17:00She's not the only one that provides backup,
17:02as the Mosasaurus bursts out of the lagoon
17:04to finish the job.
17:06Throwing in everything but the kitchen sink,
17:08this monster mash delivers all the thrills and chills
17:10one could want from a climax.
17:14Number 2.
17:15The Volcano Erupts,
17:17Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom.
17:22This is another electrifying sequence
17:24where the danger levels just keep rising.
17:27First, the volcano erupts,
17:29marking the beginning of the end for Isla Nublar.
17:31Owen rushes from a cloud of smoke
17:33followed by a stampede of dinosaurs,
17:35each of which looks more threatening than the last.
17:38Trees collapse,
17:39fireballs plummet from the heavens,
17:41and even the Tyrannosaurus briefly drops in.
17:44The only means of escape is a gyrosphere,
17:46which rolls away with Claire and Franklin inside.
17:49With nowhere to go,
17:50the fleeing dinosaurs and the gyrosphere
17:52are sent charging over the cliff.
17:55The sequence reaches its most chilling moment
17:57as water leaks into the gyrosphere,
17:59creating a claustrophobic sensation
18:01that leaves our hearts sinking.
18:03Luckily, literally nothing can stop Owen.

18:28Number 1.
18:30Pteranodon Attack,
18:31Jurassic World.
18:32While definitely familiar,
18:39Jurassic World does something
18:40its predecessors did not.
18:42It actually opens the park to the public.
18:44This significantly ups the ante
18:46when Pteranodons flee from captivity,
18:49feeding upon countless guests.
18:51Claire's assistant Zara
18:52is one of the unfortunate souls
18:53that gets snatched up,
18:55with the flying menaces
18:56throwing her around like a ragdoll
18:57until the Mosasaurus joins the buffet.
19:00Zack and Gray nearly meet the same fate,
19:02as a Pteranodon lands within inches of them.
19:05With crowds running from a swarm
19:06of intimidating beasts,
19:08this scene recalls Toho's
19:09classic monster productions,
19:11albeit on a bigger budget
19:12and grander scale.
19:13What?
19:14Zack!
19:16Gray!
19:17Oh my god, thank god, thank god.
19:19What do you think is the scariest scene
19:21in the Jurassic World movies?

19:24Come on!
19:25No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
