With temperatures set to rocket campaign targets keeping children water safe this summer

As part of Drowning Prevention Week, which runs until Saturday June 21, the RLSS has been educating families, carers, teachers of children aged between five and 15 years old about water safety.

00:01With the sun out, temperatures warming up and the six weeks holidays around the corner,

00:05more and more people are going to be heading down to the beach to enjoy the seaside.

00:09This week is National Prevent Drowning Week

00:12and there's going to be a number of workshops and initiatives taking place

00:15with young people in and around schools and youth groups in Sunderland

00:18looking at the dangers of going in open water in the sea

00:21and trying to prevent people from dying from drowning.
