00:00Oh, right back out of here on the early line.
00:02Hour number two in full effect.
00:04You never know the fun that we have.
00:05Like, we'll get in arguments over how many hot dogs we're eating.
00:07How can you get it done here?
00:08You never know who's going to stop by either.
00:11Sonny writes out, it's Joe Ranieri.
00:12You know who's stopped by?
00:13It's the coach.
00:13It's James Young.
00:14Game five of the NBA was last night.
00:16Excitement all the way around.
00:18And we are getting a game six, coach.
00:20Yes, we are getting a game six.
00:22And good morning to the both of you.
00:24Hopefully, Donnie, you don't have to carry the Kevin Walsh again today.
00:29But that's a story for another day.
00:31You know, but listen, it was a game that I think a lot of us thought we were going to get.
00:38Right?
00:38We were going to get Oklahoma City probably with the win.
00:40It was a matter of how you did it.
00:44And if you played this right, and I pray people did,
00:48I thought the game was better to be played live.
00:51Let one team jump out, play the run, and play the run on the way back.
00:57And if you played it the right way, meaning probably wait until the end of the first quarter,
01:00the second quarter, then it took Indiana plus the points.
01:04And then when that lead got down to two, jumped on the money line for Oklahoma City,
01:09you got yourself a nice little middle there last night.
01:13Yeah, coach.
01:14The Pacers, I mean, look, they're always game.
01:16You know they're never out of it here.
01:17Down double digits at the break.
01:18They stormed back in the third quarter.
01:20Midway through the fourth quarter.
01:21It's a two-point game.
01:22After that, Siakam three-point shot.
01:23But let's get to the bottom of this because sometimes before we say,
01:26all right, how did the game get to 120 to 109?
01:29I just look at the great performances last night.
01:31Jalen Williams coached 35 minutes, 14 of 25 from the floor,
01:34got to the free throw line, knocked down his threes, 40 total points in that game.
01:39Talk to me about Jalen Williams and his ability to step up in a monster game,
01:43a pivotal two-to-two series tie at home.
01:46He said, you know what, Shea?
01:47I got you.
01:48I'm here for you.
01:48Hey, listen, if Indiana said we gave up 31 to SGA, you could say, okay,
01:54we got a shot.
01:55But you give up 40 to Jalen Williams, 71 combined to two of them,
02:00that's something, Donnie, that you can't overcome.
02:03Like, you literally can't because there's other guys that can score and do things.
02:07We'll talk about them in a second.
02:09I thought that what I liked out of Jalen Williams out of Oklahoma City is for the
02:14first time in a series, they took advantage of the turnovers.
02:16And they got out and they got out and ran.
02:20I think the first two or three or four shots for Jalen Williams were dunks in
02:24transition, backdoor cuts, whatever you wanted.
02:27So he became that three-level score.
02:30And this is the problem, even with, like, him going to the basket and even that
02:35tough little, tough, I guess you would call it like a Kobe Jordan fade away from
02:39the left elbow over Naismith.
02:43But this is where Indiana's got their issue versus, like, Brunson.
02:48It's the size.
02:50It's the size of the SGA.
02:52It's the size of the Jalen Williams.
02:53He's too big.
02:55He's too strong.
02:57And that's why I thought it was very important for Mark Dagonal to go with that
03:01double big lineup.
03:03So now Siakam can't guard Jalen Williams.
03:07He's got to guard Chet.
03:09So that creates a matchup nightmare for someone, guys, that is strong enough to
03:15finish over you in the lane but can knock down threes and get to his mid-range.
03:20The difference in this game to me, Coach, and if I'm Indiana and Rick Carlisle, I was
03:28down 18.
03:29I got it to a two-point game with eight and a half minutes to go.
03:31And the thing that killed him, much like game one, the only difference is the turnovers
03:37in game one didn't lead to points.
03:39The turnovers in game five led to 32 points.
03:43You didn't have Halliburton, and yet you still had a chance with eight and a half minutes
03:48to win the game.
03:49That has got to be encouraging if you're Indiana here.
03:52You got to take care of the ball.
03:54You got to take care of the ball.
03:55And there's only so long that you're going to be able to take advantage of our team, not
04:00take advantage of your mistakes.
04:02They fed Oklahoma City.
04:03We got down to it.
04:04And this is why it's so dangerous, Joe.
04:07They can create runs off their defense.
04:09And we could talk about after the break about what Rick Carlisle did with Halliburton.
04:15Should he have played him?
04:16Should he have not played him?
04:17Should he have stopped with McConnell?
04:18Was out in the third quarter?
04:19If you people want to look at someone, look at number.
04:22Number was awful.
04:23And he was throwing the ball over the gym in the fourth quarter.
04:26If you're, if you are Rick Carlisle, that's the guy you sit because he wasn't scoring a
04:33ton.
04:34He was getting cooked on defense and he was giving the ball away on offense.
04:38Yeah.
04:39It's going to be interesting to see because game number six back in Indiana, we only have
04:42a couple seconds left here in this segment.
04:43Coach Tyrese Halliburton.
04:44Are we worried about his performance in game number five due to injury and bleeding into
04:49game number six?
04:51Yeah, I'm concerned.
04:53And, but the other thing is, is the fact that Oklahoma city smells blood and they could
04:57run so many defenders that this is where running a transition is going to be an issue with Indiana
05:03because they actually need to play half court with Halliburton to save his legs.
05:08Coming into this next game.
05:09Number six, obviously there, it is going to be a must win to force a game number seven.
05:14And then maybe a little Ace Bailey news hitting the forefront here with coach.
05:18How about that?
05:22NBA finals game number six action here.
05:24A quote that came from last night in the post-game press conference that said, if I can walk,
05:29then I want to play.
05:30That's Tyrese Halliburton.
05:32He got injured early in that game, was ineffective the entire game.
05:35TJ McConnell really stepped up and they were within two points in the fourth quarter, but
05:39weren't able to win.
05:40That's the Pacers.
05:40So coach, if we re-rack this series here, the betting prices of the FanDuel Sportsbook,
05:45OKC, well, it's a massive favorite at minus 1600.
05:48The Pacers at a plus 900.
05:50The games to finish the series in six games, minus 200.
05:54To get to a seventh game, plus 168 live.
05:58Coach, your thoughts on the series and the prices now.
06:02Well, I'm not surprised.
06:03Obviously, Oklahoma City is a favorite going into game six because of the fact that Indiana
06:07one plays worse at home than they do on the road.
06:10Two, you have a compromise, Halliburton.
06:13And three, you have a team that OKC that, let's be honest, if they don't choke game one,
06:18this series is already over.
06:19Let's be honest.
06:20And they also lost a tight, you know, game number three.
06:24So when you kind of think about it, like what team has been more impressive over the totality
06:30of the series?
06:31It's been Oklahoma City.
06:32So that's why it makes sense to me.
06:35What doesn't make sense is the fact that I think Indiana with Tyrese Halliburton's in
06:41a no-win situation.
06:42Here's why.
06:43Tyrese plays last night hurt.
06:46He hurts his team.
06:48But if Rick Carlisle sits Tyrese Halliburton in game five of a 2-2 series, then there's an
06:56issue.
06:57So to me, it's like he can't win.
06:59And it's also he can't win because of the fact that T.J. McConnell was so good, and they
07:03made that run without him.
07:05Now, here's a difference here, and we saw this last series with the Knicks, is I forget
07:11what game it was.
07:12I think it was game three when Brunson got in foul trouble, and Tim was like, I'm sorry,
07:19man.
07:19You got to sit.
07:19I got to get a win here.
07:21So it takes a lot of guts for a coach to do it.
07:25But to me, as much as Halliburton wasn't great, I still look at Nembrard and the fact that
07:31he wasn't good with the ball either.
07:33You probably could have put a better score next to him to take the load off of him.
07:37But now we got a do-or-die situation.
07:40The best thing for Indiana is it's two days off between now and game six.
07:44Hopefully, Halliburton will be healthy enough to give it a strong go Thursday night.
07:49Yeah, it's crazy, Coach, because again, Halliburton's not the leading scorer on this team.
07:54They don't need him to drop 28 points in order to beat Oklahoma City.
07:59The thing that scares me, if you're OKC, Coach, this team is night and day at home versus on
08:05the road offensively.
08:08The Pacers have a legit shot of going home, winning this game, getting it back to a game
08:13seven, and anything is possible.
08:15But I don't think you need a 30-point effort from Halliburton to do so.
08:19No, you know, let's be honest.
08:22You need what you got out of Pascal Siakam.
08:25You got to rebound the ball better.
08:27You got to cut down to turnovers.
08:29And you got to win a three-point battle.
08:31Now, can they do those four things?
08:33Absolutely, they can do those four things.
08:35Can they do those four things Thursday and then on Sunday?
08:39Probably not.
08:41That's why the issue is, I said this to you guys yesterday, I don't think Indiana wins
08:47this series in seven.
08:49I think their chance is in six.
08:51Now, it would be great for them to go home and feed off of that home crowd.
08:54Now, to me, that means if you're taking Indiana, you got to play from the lead, from the jump.
08:59So if you like Indiana, maybe the best thing to do is just take them to win the first quarter
09:03and then ride the game live.
09:05Because we said it just before, there's going to be ebbs and flows for this game offensive,
09:08defensively.
09:09But it's key for Indiana to get off to a good start in game number six on Thursday night.
09:15Changing market conditions, as always, here on the Fan Blue Sports.
09:18We'll be taking a look at the NBA Finals MVP market.
09:20Jay Gilgis-Alexander at a minus $5.50 price here.
09:23Jalen Williams at a 7-1, fresh off a 40-point effort in that pivotal game number five.
09:29Pascal Siakam 13-1 in Halliburton dropping now.
09:31The injury concerns and certainly down 3-2 in the series at 33-1.
09:35Is it still SGA for you, or could we see Jalen Williams with a surge again in game number six?
09:42I mean, if you get a 35-40-point game in a game six, back-to-back games, I mean, anything's possible.
09:51But if you look at the totality of this series, SGA has been better.
09:56It's just been the last game or two where Jalen Williams really has stepped up.
10:00So it would take, you know, an SGA performance of, let's say, like 19-20 points, rough shooting night,
10:06and then Jalen Williams gives you 35-40 in a closeout game, back-to-back 40-point, you know, 35-plus games.
10:12Then, yeah, you could probably look at Jalen Williams.
10:15But the amount of that they have the ball in his hands, SGA, you would think it's SGA.
10:20It just wonders now, and I know this sounds crazy, does Rick Carlisle change his starting lineup?
10:29Maybe it's not for him to change it.
10:30Maybe Mathry for Nembarn, someone that's a little bit bigger to guard Jalen Williams to start the game.
10:34Do you do something wild, like go three bigs with Obi Toppens?
10:37You can see I'll come on him and put Obi on Chet.
10:40You have to do something to combat the size of that backcourt.
10:44That's 6-5, 6-6, and the way that SGA and Jalen Williams get to the rack and can bump you off with the dribble,
10:52you may have to go bigger and get Nembarn out of the starting lineup to get a little bit of length and bulk in the backcourt.
10:59We talked yesterday, Coach, about the total in the game.
11:02We thought it got a little low.
11:04We did like the over in that game, and certainly that hit.
11:08I'm looking at the lines that opened up minus five, Oklahoma City, and we're back to that 224.
11:13224-and-a-half mark here.
11:16They got to play with pace, the Pacers.
11:19You said it.
11:20Is this another over for us here?
11:22Here's a crazy thing I'm going to say, Joe, and this is going to go against everything I think with Indiana.
11:28With Halliburton's calf, I don't think they can run.
11:33So it comes down to turnovers.
11:35So to me, if you like the Pacers to cover, if not win, you're looking under.
11:39If you like the game to go over, you're looking at OKC.
11:43Because OKC, it shows that they have just as much depth, they are more healthier, and they're deep.
11:49Ah, look at that.
11:56Look at that, Coach.
11:56I mean, look, heavy in thought at this point right now.
11:59The coach giving out his thoughts because we're looking forward to game number six, Joe, on Thursday night.
12:03And that is a favorite here for OKC at minus five net total.
12:06As we talked about, Coach, at 224.
12:09Tell us again.
12:10You cut out just a few moments here of that talking point you had.
12:12Yeah, to me, it's Indiana.
12:15If you like Indiana, you're probably going under in the game.
12:18Because I think with Halliburton's calf, I don't think you want to push the pace and tempo.
12:22But if you're OKC, you smell blood.
12:24You know that he can't get back on defense.
12:25You want to expose him defensively.
12:28You want to get out of the run and let that defense be a catalyst for offense.
12:32So very simple.
12:33OKC over, Indiana and under.
12:36There you go.
12:37So we're going to wait a couple days here to, what, Thursday until we get game number six.
12:41So a couple days to let Halliburton heal at this point.
12:43But understand this.
12:44We have a few days to process, as I said.
12:46But next week, Coach, we're one week away from the NBA draft.
12:50And you guys do a great job in the network.
12:52Everybody works hard to bring an awesome first-class production together.
12:55But we're already getting news out here.
12:57How about this?
12:57Ace Bailey, Coach, did you see the news coming out with Ace?
13:00Hey, draft me, teams.
13:02And is he sabotaging like Shadur Sanders out in the streets?
13:05Give us a little preview of the draft show next week.
13:07And Ace Bailey, this information is going to start to pop over the next week.
13:11Well, we better hope that he don't slide to the fifth round because there's only two rounds in the NBA draft.
13:16So he'll be an undrafted rookie if that happens.
13:20But listen, Ace Bailey is a dynamic offensive talent that can shoot the ball.
13:24You've got to question sometimes his motor and his shot selection, which was extremely poor at Rutgers.
13:30Took some of the worst shots I've seen in a coach in a long time.
13:34But he wants to be a star.
13:37But look at the lottery set itself up.
13:39Dallas, San Antonio, and then Philadelphia.
13:43Three teams that I expect to be in the playoffs, specifically Philadelphia, if they stay healthy.
13:49That means maybe he doesn't want to go top three.
13:52Edgecombe goes three.
13:53Maybe he's looking at, I don't know, Utah, Washington, where he could get the minutes.
13:58Because if he goes to any of those places, he ain't playing over those guys in Philadelphia.
14:03He's not playing over those guys in Dallas.
14:05He ain't playing over Wemby and Keldon Johnson right now or Sohan in San Antonio.
14:10He's going to have to sit like Reed Shepard.
14:12Seems like a kid that doesn't want it.
14:14He wants to play.
14:15Be interested to see what happens.
14:17This is insane.
14:19Like when you're on a job interview, like you can put that point across.
14:22It's like, I'm going to work out for you, but I'm going to tell you, me and my team, here's what we think is going to be best for my future here.
14:27Let me know how you can help it.
14:29As opposed to, I'm not working for you.
14:31Every time I interview, I'm just going to sabotage you here.
14:33It's unbelievable.
14:34Like, get your career off to a good start here.
14:37Come on, Ace.
14:38That's J-Y to the plate.
14:39Give us something, J-Y.
14:40Give us a move.
14:41All right.
14:42All right.
14:43Great spudo.
14:43All right.
