Eddie Howe previews Tyne-Wear derby amidst “change” to come at Newcastle

00:00Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has previewed the Tyne Weir derby that will take place in the Premier League next season,

00:07following Sunderland's promotion to the top flight, as well as potential change at Newcastle.

00:13I'd almost forgotten about that, to be honest, in amongst today, but of course that was there yesterday and make it more difficult.

00:22I think the derby games are obviously very intense games and they are challenging for both teams,

00:27but I think we'll have the attitude that we'll look forward to it and I think it's great for the area.

00:33I think it brings more energy and drama to the games, so let's bring it on.

00:40Change is a natural process that you go through in life and a football squad has to evolve, it has to change.

00:47The same people coming back to form the same squad is not healthy, but that's always very difficult to do

00:54because you're losing people that have given you, in some cases, absolutely everything in every moment,

00:59in every training session, in every game.

01:01Some people have done unbelievable things to help you achieve success.

01:05But sometimes the best thing for you and for them is to actually part ways.

01:08It's not necessarily a negative thing for either party.

01:11And Durham's Oli Robinson has revealed what he told the Durham bowlers at the halfway stage of Durham's T20 match against Derbyshire,

01:21which Durham went on to win, picking up the points and claiming their first home victory in the competition of the season.

01:29I think they went to slower balls very quickly.

01:33I don't think they actually tested the wicket with a new ball.

01:35And actually, it nipped a little bit.

01:38Folks, you've got a few to nip.

01:39Obviously, Rainey does what Rainey does and nips it anyway.

01:42But, yeah, I just thought we were kind of, if we could bowl that top of the stump's length for longer

01:48until they hit you off it.

01:50And then, obviously, the bowlers are smart enough to bowl the variations anyway.

01:53So, yeah, they've all played enough cricket now to know what they need to do.

01:56So good to see Sauts and Cal back.

01:59Obviously, that all Sauts bowled to Gesty was pretty special, that.

02:02But, yeah, I think that's kind of the blueprint of how we've won a load of games of cricket at Durham.
