00:00Durham won a third T20 match in succession on Sunday, as they defeated Yorkshire by six wickets to move up to joint second place in this season's T20 Blast Northern Table.
00:12Bowler Matthew Potts spoke after the victory in which he claimed a 5-4, his first in T20 cricket.
00:20Yeah, pretty special, you know, coming back into the Durham team, you know, trying to get a few wins for the boys.
00:25So yeah, it's nice to do well and contribute to that.
00:26No, so we actually tried to swing it up top early on with Zach and it was swinging a little bit with the breeze.
00:33So instead of swinging it, he came out of the power play and turned around and said that wobble was working in heavy length.
00:38So he was hitting the pitch pretty hard with the wobble and it was doing a little bit, so it was pretty receptive.
00:43So it was nice to get up top and try and challenge them on both sides.
00:46We came off and I was saying, you know, what happened there probably wouldn't have happened if they hadn't have bowled three overs each in the power play
00:51and gone about it as methodical and as clinical as they did.
00:54So it's kind of credit to them as well. They set it up nicely.
00:56The pitch looked really, really good and we were saying that it could actually be a very good batting track.
01:01But we thought, you know, with a club pitch and now ground, you might have a little bit there early on with the ball.
01:07It might get better as a play, so we thought that was the way to go bowling first and, you know, it done what we thought it would.
01:12And with the transfer window reopening for Premier League clubs, Newcastle United have continued their pursuits for Brighton's Jao Pedro, amongst other targets.
01:20I think all summers are massive and, you know, it's very difficult to put one ahead of the other.
01:25But I think when we haven't been active in the market for so long, in the manner that we want to be active,
01:30then there is a danger that you go over a line that the squad weakens because you haven't been doing what you need to do to refresh the group,
01:40to challenge the players with new players coming in.
01:43And it's a summer that we have to do that.
01:44I know there's that intention throughout the club to do that.
01:48Yeah, speed is key for us.
01:50And I've reiterated that many times internally.
01:53Speed is key because we have to be dynamic.
01:55We have to be ready to conclude things very, very quickly because good players don't hang around for long.
02:00That's always been my thought and my message on recruitment, really,
02:04because you can have a period where you think you've got time,
02:09but then you can look around very quickly and realise that that time's elapsed
02:12and you've missed opportunities that you won't get again.
