00:00we are here at cma best with dustin lynch we got to talk about your boots
00:06you like those i mean those are winning awards right there these are my friend daniel diamond
00:11he does a lot of like incredible i've never seen anything like it with these boots i know
00:14the daniel diamond name but wow yeah real tree camo uh-huh rhinestones yeah they're some sort
00:20of tip what's shining what is it yeah they got rhinestones on them and then they got a metal
00:25tip on the boot yeah yeah no i love them when he first went i was like oh that's yeah that's a good
00:29country boot right there for sure how are you i'm great life's good we just released a new song
00:34yeah you did um this kicks off my year right here with you guys at cma fest like we uh we hit the
00:39road next week full-on tour we haven't toured extensively since last september really i've
00:44been busy i've been doing shows yeah and i've been like a proper country country band tour yeah yeah
00:49and you got a like a couple tours coming up with scott like we'll talk about all that stuff first
00:52we're talking about cma fest you got the pool situation we're bringing it back year three
00:56we've had it at the cma fest of course it's 10 years old now since we uh invented it i guess
01:02down in mexico but yeah the um we do it at margarita hotel which is so much fun um it's just the
01:11perfect size for what we do it's a very interactive show so i need people in tight on me and we just
01:16pile as many people in there as we can and uh always have great special guests oh yeah cma fest so
01:22there's a lot of people here of course artist wise so we always surprise the crowd with special guests
01:26we got a lot of great ones tomorrow you've been like really like honing in on this pool situation
01:31for like 10 years and i feel like last year was the first year that i got to see it and i the thing
01:35that like i thought was so cool about it is like it is so casual like when i walked up i was like oh
01:40dustin's like literally just like standing in the pool like you're just right there like it's not
01:44like it's not very professional it's loose no but the thing that's cool is that like people can
01:48like literally be right next to you in the pool swimming hanging out like it doesn't feel like
01:52you're like this star on stage that's like it's untouchable like you're right there the format of
01:56this show is we're all in this together and we kind of let the crowd steer us um literally like
02:01there's a wheel that you spin exactly that says what you're gonna do and like there's some crazy
02:05stuff on there talk about there is yeah we i mean i don't know a lot of it's you know it's
02:10interactive so we get guys and girls on stage to do dance-offs or belly flops or drink shave a mullet i
02:16saw a bunch of guys do that next year bullet thrown yeah on the on the slice we switch it up
02:21too so each year um depending on who's involved with the show we switch it up and we've started
02:26doing themes at these pool situations so depending on what the theme is dictates where the wheel goes
02:32that year too but that's to your point that's what makes it so fun is we don't know what it's
02:35going to land on and then that kind of steers the show of what song we play and kind of what we segue
02:41into next it's probably made you a better performer just like being able to like react you know
02:46like it's it's so different from what you normally do no doubt about it yeah i mean we try to be we
02:51are perfectionists as a band like in crew i mean we we we obsess about everything about our shows and
02:58really try to do um everything perfectly and the the pool situation is more about it's not about y'all
03:04are here at the show we want to make sure you felt like you earned your money it's y'all here at the show
03:07what are we doing and um so it's a lot looser and i think it's taught me a lot about um all of my
03:14shows but but also the reason i was able to come up with this concept for for a show is is just all
03:20my time playing the bars down here lower broadway and all over the south southeast when we were
03:24playing clubs just learning chops you know because we're doing a lot of cover songs too so um just
03:29stand loose and feeding off the crowd i mean on broadway you're literally whoever hand you a dollar
03:34bill or a hundred dollar bill whatever they hand you you're playing that song yeah you're pulling it up
03:37on your phone learning the lyrics in the minute i just love as a band we get to go back to those days
03:41because we don't miss them but we do miss them you know no totally what are some of the things that
03:46you and the band do like that are part of like daily routines before the show like you mentioned
03:50like perfecting everything like what has become like part of that process well the crew is doing a
03:54lot of that um and a lot of that has to do with just maintenance and upkeep of instruments to the
03:58highest standard and uh then soundcheck of course is very intricate process that we go through we want
04:04to make sure we sound the best we can and um then for us like me and the band guys really focus on
04:09our mental awareness and being and and just um our emotional awareness too because we want to when
04:15we hit the stage at night we want to be fully uh there we're going to be in the moment and present
04:21in our performance so a lot of what we do is we get all the you know all i think just all the calls
04:28and all the family stuff and and all the worrying out of the way early in the day and all the fun too
04:33like not all the fun but we go golf we go work out play pickleball go to dinner together and then
04:39an hour before the show mandatory it's time to turn on music start hanging out and really just
04:44being present with music and catching whatever vibes and whatever auras in the air that night
04:50and then we kind of take that from backstage onto the stage that's so fun and i've heard like a number
04:54of people talk about that like just how important that hour before the show is of just like hanging out
04:58and getting everybody together and like on the same page and ready to go we want to hit we want
05:02to hit the stage with the with the amount of energy maybe a little more than the crowd has and and a
05:06lot of times they've been drinking all day and pre-gaming all day they've definitely been seven up all
05:10year to be there for us so um we don't want to come out and be like hey guys this is our third show
05:15this weekend you want to come out there and and really be on their level and um so yeah we'll we'll get
05:21the music going get a couple drinks in us and hit that stage right there with them let's talk about this
05:25new song that you just put out easy to love yes you wrote this talk about it i did yeah i wrote a
05:29lot for this album i'm really proud of the creative process that um and the flow that i've been in and
05:35i'm still in right now um what really pushed the creative process along is is not to get off easy
05:40love real quick but is it the other type of music i'm getting making we can get to that here in a
05:44minute but um easy love is kind of a little bit autobiographical about a guy that's just going where
05:49the wind blows them where the waves take them and that's the literally the season of life i'm in
05:54right now because of um a couple things one of those being um this dj set that and nightlife set
06:02that i'm performing outside of um you know my normal country touring we started doing dj sets in
06:08las vegas we have a residency at the wind what how did i miss this yeah and perform we're performing
06:13that show at a bunch of the night big nightclubs across uh the u.s and canada and so that has
06:19literally taken me my life in a completely new direction i mean yeah if you'd have told me you
06:25know at last cma fest i would be doing this i would have called you crazy but here we are so
06:29um that lyric comes honestly for me right now it's not exactly me but uh a lot of the things i talk
06:35about is me and um and i think it embraces a little bit of that jimmy buffett meets um crazy
06:41heart you know a little bit of a troubadour jeff bridges kind of they had a baby and um i guess
06:47they had me 2025 it's weird does that sound saying i just made that up but there we are
06:51talking more about the rest of the music that you've made for this album yeah i've got well
06:55over an album already recorded um that's awesome yeah we've been recording as kind of the year's
07:00gone and we get songs we love so lots more new music coming out um this year a lot of country
07:05music coming out a lot of um new dance music coming out as well and so you're just working
07:11on both projects simultaneously i'm i'm a madman i'm constantly uh on the phone and uh you know
07:17in the studio right now doing both projects wait are you going by like a different name for the
07:20dance stuff no i'm not going by a different name it's still it's still i truly don't know how i miss
07:25this like my mind is blown that i didn't know you'll have to come see us yeah this is so fun
07:28good excuse to go to las vegas but um gonna go by my name and but a lot of uh the dance world's
07:34very collaborative so i'm getting to collaborate with some of the top djs in the game right now
07:38uh whenever i started the the live show started taking off for me i thought they'd be like dude
07:44get out of our sandbox but diplo has been really embracing country music for a while and a lot of
07:50other djs have done remixes of country songs um but this movement of of dance and country kind of
07:57coming together and uh is new and um they're like let's go let's work so i'm so glad that you're doing
08:04this i literally just said to someone the day i was like i feel like the next movement for country
08:08will be some sort of like dance edm oh it's here remix thing you know and i think it's been here
08:12for a while like i know diplo has been doing stuff like this yeah it's stagecoach for years but i feel
08:17like everyone's starting to be aware of it so like yeah it's getting a lot more mainstream and a lot more
08:22eyeballs on it um our shows are crazy fun yeah um we're actually doing a doing a ga set uh saturday
08:30night here at cma fest so uh it's gonna be fun to try it out on on legit country crowd you know i
08:36mean it's country music week here so i know it's gonna be a lot of people in there that are going
08:40what is this about to be and i hope they love it right how has it been like for your brain having
08:45like this dance stuff going and then like working on an album that's country at the same time it's
08:49made me look at country songwriting a little bit differently um but also uh it i think my country
08:58background has really helped me in the rooms and in the writing camps uh with with the dance world
09:03and um it's it's cool i mean we're getting to make a a piece of art that's never existed literally it
09:10hasn't and it's it's cool to be kind of on the front end of that that's awesome and then you've
09:14also got this big tour coming up with scotty mccurray and you're hitting the road this weekend
09:17talk about going out on the road scotty all these shows yeah so we hit the road next weekend just
09:21fairs and festivals every single weekend until we get out with scotty in november and we're going to
09:25finish the year off uh on the two for the road tour with scotty i think we're doing 12 cities
09:29um and it's a it's it's a tour i've never really done we're kind of we're sharing the same stage
09:37so you know usually you have an opener and then they move their stuff and then you have the headliner
09:42scotty and i being at the levels we are we're like why don't we just save some gas money and go do this
09:49together you know why would we build two shows and be in different cities at the same time so that's
09:53what we're doing um and just talking we we don't have the exact set list down yet but kind of
09:58roughing it out it's gonna be so fun i'm so excited he's got a huge song out he just put out um bottle
10:05rockets right yes i mean what i didn't know that was coming we already had this tour down we've done
10:09the promotion and everything and of course we're both cheering for each other hoping we have hits
10:13this year so the tour goes well yeah and when that song came out i'm like he's done it and so i hope
10:18easy to love does just as well for sure and scotty's such a good like he's just like so nice
10:22to be around he's like always so calm he's so happy yeah he's great his family guy he's gonna help calm
10:27my crew down a little bit which is a good thing and he loves golf yeah i'm getting back into golf so
10:31hopefully we can find the link somewhere awesome well what else are you looking forward to this year
10:35um gosh that's that's going to consume a lot of that's a lot i don't know i have other like
10:41personal goals um like what i want to continue to to really just uh enjoy flying you know and and
10:48make sure that i'm having some me time to go do do some stuff that's important to me i i'm
10:53i easily say yes to things and i've realized this far along that i need to start boxing out some days
10:59it's fun to say no it's fun to say no well you know i think with the freedom i've allowed myself and
11:04kind of how i've programmed my life up to this point i'm able to go to do a lot of fun stuff so
11:08just taking advantage of that um yeah getting to play golf and and i want to travel out west
11:12um this year a little bit in the summer months got a great fishing trip coming up with my team out
11:16there uh yeah so just embracing the days off that's great well listen i'm really excited the song sounds
11:21great i'm excited to hear the new stuff you've been working on dance and country yeah this is
11:25gonna be awesome stay tuned dustin lynch thank you for coming to see us thank you
