Churachandpur (Manipur), 07 JUNE (ANI): The Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), launched in August 2019, is transforming rural Manipur by providing safe and adequate drinking water through household tap connections. In villages like K. Thenjang, Maichammun, and Leinom, residents now have direct access to clean water, easing the daily burden of fetching it. Implemented by state authorities with support from the Government of India, JJM has sanctioned 430 schemes in the state—26 fully completed, while 108 are in progress. Paulungmuan, Assistant Engineer at PHED, also noted 51 additional schemes funded by the New Development Bank (NDB). Though progress was delayed due to the May 2023 conflict, work has resumed smoothly. Visuals show women and children using tap water for daily chores, reflecting improved living conditions.
