Stavanger (Norway), June 05, 2025 (ANI): On the match between Gukesh D and Magnus Carlsen, five-time World Champion Viswanathan Anand said "This was drama for everybody across the world, and when you see such intense emotions, people understand that, even if they are following Chess or not. That's also something I am quite happy with."
00:00Vishi sir, the chess is now growing in the country and it's been good for the game. How do you see this thing?
00:05I'm very happy. Not only is the game growing strongly, but more and more people are getting opportunities to talk about it and representing what's so dramatic about the sport.
00:16So, it's fantastic.
00:17And after Gukesh and Pragananda are winning in the tournaments a few weeks back and the youngsters are following the game and both of them. How does it good for the chess?
00:30Same answer essentially. It's excellent for the game. Of course, for any game to succeed, you need your players to do well and produce something interesting for the fans to enjoy.
00:43But luckily, Pragananda Gukesh are doing that very well.
00:47In the last game, when Gukesh beat Magnus, he shows how Indian chess is going so fast and so strongly. How do you feel?
00:59Yes, but this was drama for everybody across the world and when you see such intense emotions, people understand that, even whether they're following chess or not.
01:09So, that's also something I'm quite happy with.
