00:00I wanted to ask you about PMQs because Sarah Pochin, Reform's latest MP, decided to use her first question, I believe, to ask about the burqa.
00:10She said, given France, Denmark, Belgium have all banned it, why don't we essentially? What do you think about that issue?
00:17Well, fundamentally, I do believe in freedom and I believe that people should have the choice to wear whatever they want.
00:24I wouldn't tell you what to wear, but I do also think it's important to make sure that women are not in any way coerced into doing something that they don't want to do.
00:35So I think it is very important to make sure that women are not being coerced and are able to make their own free choices.
00:42But you wouldn't want a ban? Would you want a state ban?
00:45No, because I do believe in liberty and I believe in freedom and liberty and freedom, which are core British values and tolerance as well.
00:52Doing does include the freedom to choose what you want to wear.
00:56But of course, that tolerance is a two way street and I expect communities to show tolerance.
01:02It works in both directions, doesn't it?
01:04How do you feel when you see a woman on the streets in a full in a full burqa where you can't see someone's face at all?
01:12Does that make you ever feel uncomfortable or do you think this is just sort of a normal thing in modern Britain?
01:18Well, look, it comes, Tom, it's not really it's up to people to make their own choices.
01:24And if you believe in freedom, then that includes people having the freedom to make their own choices, whether you like those choices or not.
01:30Right. That's what freedom means.
01:31But the point is, the two points, the two the two corollaries of that are firstly, tolerance works both ways.
01:38And secondly, people should not freedom mean also means not being coerced.
01:44Those are the very two very important corollaries.
01:47By the way, you mentioned PMQs. I think Kemi had a very good PMQs today.
01:52Starmer was flailing around, not answering the question.
01:55And she asked him, you know, is he going to put taxes up anymore?
01:59And he started ranting about Russia or something.
02:01He was really on the ropes there.
02:03And I think Kemi did a great job.
02:04All right.
02:05Chris, I'm sorry.
