00:00To your mind, did Keir Starmer squander this historic mandate that he was given?
00:07No, I don't believe so, for two reasons.
00:10One is there's still four years to run, but the main one is he got a very large majority
00:16and he had a manifesto with some very radical mandates in it.
00:19The manifesto is committing the Labour government to decarbonising the electricity network.
00:26That's a major, major thing to do between now and the next election.
00:30It will require a lot of change in investment.
00:33It's a big priority to get to net zero.
00:35If you look at everything that Labour is focusing on, that's a big dividing line with reform
00:40because it involves new jobs in renewable energy, new jobs in clean energy, new jobs in power generation,
00:49but actually power distribution, the electrical networks.
00:51So that's a big area where Labour has chosen a controversial policy,
00:55put it in their manifesto, got a mandate for it.
00:57On the other side, they've said there'll be planning reforms, that there'll be infrastructure reforms.
